This is a list of every piece of head armor in the Golden Sun series that the games categorize as "Hats", "Crowns", "Caps", "Hoods", and "Masks", which are all terms that can be seen as falling under the umbrella of "general headwear". Mechanically, in Golden Sun and The Lost Age, they are distinguished from other armor types by their capacity to be worn by all Adepts in the game. In comparison, Helms can only be worn by the "warrior-style" Adepts Isaac, Garet, Felix, and Piers, and Circlets can only be worn by the "caster-style" Adepts Ivan, Mia, Jenna, and Sheba.

In Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, even though the eight playable Adepts are more diverse and adhere less rigidly to previous definitions of "warrior" and "caster", all eight of them can wear generalized headwear: Matthew, Karis, Tyrell, Rief, Amiti, Sveta, Eoleo, and Himi.

Introduced in Golden Sun

Leather Cap: Adds 3 Defense. A common head armor purchased for 30 coins at Vale (and then Vault) in Golden Sun and at Daila (and then Madra and Alhafra) in The Lost Age. Sells for 22 coins.
• In Dark Dawn, it is purchased at Patcher's Place, making it permanently unavailable once you follow the path through Konpa Cave's south exit. At Lookout Cabin, Matthew automatically receives and equips one in a cutscene, and it is part of Karis and Tyrell's starting equipment.

Wooden Cap: Adds 10 Defense. A common head armor purchased for 400 coins at Bilibin (and then Imil, Kolima Village, and Xian) in Golden Sun, and is part of Mia's starting equipment. In The Lost Age, it is purchased at Garoh (and then Naribwe). Sells for 300 coins.
• In Dark Dawn, it is purchased at Kaocho, making it permanently unavailable once you take off for the Clouds of Passaj.

Mail Cap: Adds 23 Defense. A common head armor purchased for 2,000 coins at Kalay (and then Tolbi) in Golden Sun and at Yallam in The Lost Age. Sells for 1,500 coins.
• In Dark Dawn, it is purchased at Te Rya Village (and then Border Town), making it permanently unavailable once you approach the Alchemy Dynamo's pedestal in Belinsk Ruins. Is part of Sveta's starting equipment.

Ninja Hood: Adds 28 Defense and 20 Agility. An Artifact head armor that is one of the prizes randomly won by tossing a Lucky Medal into the Lucky Medal Fountain in Tolbi. Sells for 2,100 coins.

Lure Cap: Adds 20 Defense and increases random encounter rate. An Artifact head armor that is granted in a cutscene in Babi's Palace in Tolbi if you defeat the final opponent, Navampa, in the Colosso Finals, making it permanently unavailable if you lose against him. Sells for 2,250 coins.
• In Dark Dawn, it is dropped by a Mimic in Craggy Peak Ruins, making it permanently unavailable once you approach the Alchemy Dynamo's pedestal in Belinsk Ruins.

Jeweled Crown: Adds 35 Defense and 5 Luck. An Artifact head armor purchased for 4,000 coins at Lalivero in Golden Sun and at Contigo in The Lost Age. Sells for 3,000 coins.
• In Dark Dawn, it is purchased at Harun Village, but can now only be equipped by females.

Prophet's Hat: Adds 30 Defense, and can be Used in battle to attempt to inflict Death Curse on an enemy. An Artifact head armor that drops from Dread Hounds in Altmiller Cave in Golden Sun and in Gaia Rock and Izumo Ruins in The Lost Age, both at a 1/64 chance (or 1/16 if slain using an offensive Mercury Djinni). Sells for 3,450 coins; if its Use function is broken, it will cost 1,150 coins to repair, and the item will sell for 2,300 coins until then.
• In Dark Dawn, it is found in a chest in Passaj after the Alchemy Forge is revived.

Lucky Cap: Adds 33 Defense, 2 PP recovered at the end of each turn, and 8% to Unleash rate. An Artifact head armor found in a chest in early Venus Lighthouse. Sells for 3,900 coins.
• In Dark Dawn, it is found in a chest in Harun Channel.

Thunder Crown: Adds 40 Defense and 4 PP recovered at the end of each turn. A Cursed Artifact head armor found in a chest in later Venus Lighthouse. Sells for 5,625 coins.
• In Dark Dawn, it is found in a chest in Yamata Ruins.

Introduced in The Lost Age

Nurse's Cap: Adds 18 Defense, and can be Used anytime to restore 70 HP, but can only be equipped or Used by females. An Artifact head armor that is found in a chest in Madra. Sells for 900 coins; if its Use function is broken, it will cost 300 coins to repair, and the item will sell for 600 coins until then.
• In Dark Dawn, it is found in a cabinet in Te Rya Village, making it permanently unavailable once you approach the Alchemy Dynamo's pedestal in Belinsk Ruins.

Thorn Crown: Adds 28 Defense and 8 Attack. An Artifact head armor found in a chest in Naribwe. Sells for 2,475 coins.

Otafuku Mask: Adds 31 Defense, and can be Used in battle to deal a 50-damage Mercury attack spread out across three enemies with low damage distribution, but can only be equipped or Used by females. An Artifact head armor that drops from Gressils in Izumo Ruins at a 1/64 chance (or 1/16 if slain using an offensive Jupiter Djinni). Sells for 2,925 coins; if its Use function is broken, it will cost 975 coins to repair, and the item will sell for 1,950 coins until then.

Floating Hat: Adds 34 Defense and 20 Jupiter Resistance, and multiplies Luck by x1.2. An Artifact head armor that is one of the random outcomes (with 25% probability) of bringing a Sylph Feather to the Blacksmith in Yallam, which costs 5,700 coins to then buy. Sells for 4,275 coins.

Hiotoko Mask: Adds 33 Defense, and can be Used in battle to deal an 85-damage Mars attack spread out across three enemies with low damage distribution, but can only be equipped or Used by males. An Artifact head armor that drops from Little Deaths in Magma Rock at a 1/64 chance (or 1/16 if slain using an offensive Jupiter Djinni). Sells for 4,950 coins; if its Use function is broken, it will cost 1,650 coins to repair, and the item will sell for 3,300 coins until then.

Crown of Glory: Adds 48 Defense and 8 PP recovered at the end of each turn. An Artifact head armor that is one of the prizes randomly won by tossing a Lucky Medal into the Lucky Medal Fountain in Lemuria. Sells for 5,550 coins.

Alastor's Hood: Adds 47 Defense, and can be Used in battle to attempt to instantly fell an enemy. An Artifact head armor found in a chest in upper Mars Lighthouse (off to the right of the entrance into the "Dragon" sub-tower). Sells for 8,850 coins; if its Use function is broken, it will cost 2,950 coins to repair, and the item will sell for 5,900 coins until then.

Umbra Cowl: Adds 35 Defense, 20 Venus Resistance, and 20 Jupiter Resistance, but can only be equipped by Sveta. An Artifact head armor found in a chest in Lonely Island Ruins. Plot-critical item that is mandatory to equip during Apollo Sanctum, and cannot be sold or dropped.
