List of Shields

This is a list of every piece of hand armor in the Golden Sun series that the games categorize as "Shields". Mechanically, in Golden Sun and The Lost Age, they are distinguished from other armor types by which Adepts can equip them: the "warrior-style" Adepts Isaac and Garet in the first game, alongside Felix and Piers in the second game. None of these four Adepts can wear Bracelets, which all four of the "caster-style" Adepts can wear; on the other hand, all eight Adepts in the GBA series can wear Gloves.

In Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, Shields can be held by Matthew, Tyrell, and Eoleo, the three most "warrior-like" Adepts. All Shields featured in the game return from prior installments.

Introduced in Golden Sun

Wooden Shield: Adds 6 Defense. A common hand armor purchased for 40 coins at Vale (and then Vault) in Golden Sun and at Daila (and then Madra and Alhafra) in The Lost Age. Sells for 30 coins.
• In Dark Dawn, it is purchased at Patcher's Place (and then Carver's Camp), making it permanently unavailable once you follow the path through Konpa Cave's south exit.

Bronze Shield: Adds 14 Defense. A common hand armor purchased for 500 coins at Bilibin (and then Imil and Kolima) in Golden Sun and at Garoh in The Lost Age. Sells for 375 coins.
• In Dark Dawn, it is purchased at Kaocho (and then Ayuthay).

Iron Shield: Adds 20 Defense. A common hand armor purchased for 1,200 coins at Xian (and then Altin and Kalay) in Golden Sun and at Naribwe (and then Kibombo) in The Lost Age. Is also part of Piers's starting equipment. Sells for 900 coins.
• In Dark Dawn, it is purchased at Passaj after the Alchemy Forge is revived, making it permanently unavailable once you take off for the Clouds of Passaj.

Dragon Shield: Adds 26 Defense and 30 Mars Resistance. An Artifact hand armor found in a chest in Altin Peak. (No relation to the other Dragon Shield listed below.) Sells for 1,800 coins.
• In Dark Dawn, it is found in a chest in Ayuthay that requires you to lower and raise the water level using the Alchemy Well.

Knight's Shield: Adds 28 Defense. A common hand armor purchased for 3,000 coins at Tolbi in Golden Sun and at Apojii Islands in The Lost Age. If a Gold Password is not being used, this will be part of Isaac and Garet's starting equipment following the Reunion. Sells for 2,250 coins.
• In Dark Dawn, it is purchased at Belinsk, Port Rago, and Saha Town, making it permanently unavailable once the Gloom Skorpna battle is initiated at Belinsk's docks.

Earth Shield: Adds 31 Defense and 20 Venus Resistance, and can be Used during battle to restore 150 HP to an ally. An Artifact hand armor that is one of the prizes randomly won by tossing a Lucky Medal into the Lucky Medal Fountain in Tolbi. Sells for 3,075 coins; if its Use function is broken, it will cost 1,025 coins to repair, and the item will sell for 2,050 coins until then.

Mirrored Shield: Adds 39 Defense, and can be Used during battle to attempt to Delude up to three enemies. An Artifact hand armor purchased for 5,200 coins at Lalivero in Golden Sun and at Contigo in The Lost Age. Sells for 3,900 coins; if its Use function is broken, it will cost 1,300 coins to repair, and the item will sell for 2,600 coins until then.
• In Dark Dawn, it is purchased at Champa Camp.

Fujin Shield: Adds 23 Defense and 50 Jupiter Resistance. An Artifact hand armor found in a chest at the top screen of the exterior of Air's Rock. Sells for 1,050 coins.

Luna Shield: Adds 33 Defense and 30 Venus Power. An Artifact hand armor that is one of the random outcomes (with 20% probability) of bringing a Star Dust to the Blacksmith in Yallam, which costs 3,900 coins to then buy. Sells for 2,925 coins.

Aegis Shield: Adds 41 Defense and 10% to Unleash rate. An Artifact hand armor that is one of the prizes randomly won by tossing a Lucky Medal into the Lucky Medal Fountain in Lemuria. Sells for 5,025 coins.
• In Dark Dawn, it is found in a chest in Warrior's Hill.

Dragon Shield: Adds 42 Defense, 15 Mars Resistance, and 15 Mercury Resistance. An Artifact hand armor that is one of the random outcomes (with 25% probability) of bringing a Dragon Skin to the Blacksmith in Yallam, which costs 7,400 coins to then buy. (No relation to the other Dragon Shield listed above.) Sells for 5,550 coins.

Flame Shield: Adds 44 Defense and 60 Mars Resistance. An Artifact hand armor that is one of the random outcomes (with 25% probability) of bringing a Salamander Tail to the Blacksmith in Yallam, which costs 8,600 coins to then buy. Sells for 6,450 coins.

Terra Shield: Adds 48 Defense and 5 Attack. A Cursed Artifact hand armor that is one of the random outcomes (with 25% probability) of bringing a Dark Matter to the Blacksmith in Yallam, which costs 11,200 coins to then buy. Sells for 8,400 coins.
• In Dark Dawn, it is one of the random outcomes of bringing a Dark Matter to the Blacksmith in Champa, which is crafted for free.

Cosmos Shield: Adds 49 Defense and 20 to all Resistances (Venus, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter). An Artifact hand armor that is one of the random outcomes (with 15% probability) of bringing an Orihalcon to the Blacksmith in Yallam, which costs 12,200 coins to then buy. Sells for 9,150 coins.
• In Dark Dawn, it is one of the random outcomes of bringing an Orihalcon to the Blacksmith in Champa, which is crafted for free.
