Alastor's Hood (アラストールフード, Alastor Hood^?) is a Hood-class piece of armor found in Golden Sun: The Lost Age and Golden Sun: Dark Dawn. Its offers the highest increase of all general headwear.

In Golden Sun: The Lost Age

Alastor's Hood can be used to emulate the Condemn Psynergy on a foe for a 20% base chance at an instant kill (decreased by 3% for every two Luck points on the target), contrary to the item's in-game description (in both games it appears in) of being used to Haunt a foe. In The Lost Age it is found in a rather well-hidden treasure chest in Mars Lighthouse, in an outside area beyond the Dragon door.

It is one of the toughest pieces of headgear in The Lost Age, outdone only by the Gloria Helm, Fear Helm, and Demon Circlet in terms of defense (of which the latter two are cursed). A lot of players, however, do not use it for its effect because Condemn rarely hits, and it only works on non-boss monsters, so it is in effect strictly worn for its defense, which means it can be considered inferior to other headwear, such as the Berserker Band for casters or Mythril Helm and the aforementioned Gloria Helm for warriors, which have useful secondary effects.

In Golden Sun: Dark Dawn

In Dark Dawn, it is found in a chest in Crossbone Isle, which means it cannot be acquired until after the player has defeated the final boss of the main campaign at Apollo Sanctum. Thus, while its defensive ability is still extremely high, its practical usage drops so that other pieces of headgear are more useful in the long term. The only other headgear available for caster Adepts that offers Defense in the ballpark of Alastor's Hood is the Demon Circlet, which only becomes usable if you designate that Adept to be the bearer of your sole Cleric's Ring.
