Water of Life (ふっかつのせいすい, Fukkatsu no seisui?, lit. Holy Water of Revival) is a consumable item in the Golden Sun series. Like most consumable items, each party member can hold up to 30 Waters of Life in a single inventory slot. When used, Water of Life revives a downed party member, replenishing their Hit Points to maximum in the process. Water of Life can be bought for 3000 coins and sold for 2250 coins. Also, Water of Life is considered an Artifact, meaning it can be re-purchased if sold or dropped.

Locations

Golden Sun Water of Life

In the original Golden Sun game, a single Water of Life is added to item vendors' Artifacts section the first time players visit Tolbi, Suhalla, and Lalivero.

A limitless supply of Water of Life can be won from the Lucky Wheels and Lucky Medal Fountain minigames in Tolbi.

Water of Life is dropped by Boulder Beasts and three Mimics, located in Mercury Lighthouse, Altmiller Cave, and Suhalla Desert. Also, two bosses, the Kraken and Deadbeard, both drop Water of Life upon defeat. Finally, two unique enemies in Crossbone Isle, the Poison Toad and Earth Lizards, reward players with some Water of Life.

The Lost Age Water of Life

In Golden Sun: The Lost Age, a single Water of Life is added to item vendors' Artifacts section the first time players visit the Apojii Islands, Contigo, and Prox.

A limitless supply of Water of Life can be won from the Lucky Wheels and Lucky Medal Fountain minigames in Contigo and Lemuria, respectively.

Water of Life is dropped by Chimera Worms, Living Armor, Phoenixes, and Fire Birds.

Water of Life can also be found in the following locations:

  • In a chest inside Aqua Rock
  • In a chest at the entrance of Yampi Desert Cave, before using Teleport
  • In a chest at Jupiter Lighthouse, in the lower left of a room with a complex network of glowing purple Hover patterns in the center of the ground. Reached by properly positioning the yellow platform pillars so you can hop to it.

Dark Dawn Water of Life

In Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, a single Water of Life is added to item vendors' Artifacts section the first time players visit Patcher's Place, Harapa, Passaj, Kaocho, Ayuthay, Belinsk, Border Town, Port Rago, Saha Town, Harun Village, Yamata City, Tonfon, and Champa Camp.

Water of Life is dropped by Wild Gryphons, Minos Warriors, Chimeras, Curse Demons, and Tua Warriors. Of special note are the Tua Warriors, who, among other things, are both common enemies and are guaranteed to drop Water of Life upon defeat.

Water of Life can also be found in the following locations:

  • Players are rewarded with some Water of Life if they manage to clear the Psynergy Training Grounds a second time.
  • While exploring Ayuthay, one may notice a treasure chest in the northeast corner of the main temple. This chest contains some Water of Life, but cannot be reached until the Alchemy Well is drained. Players are also required to solve a short Whirlwind-raft puzzle. It's worth noting that the Jupiter Djinni Breath can be accessed from the same raft as the Water of Life, so if you can reach the Djinni you can reach the Water of Life (assuming your PP holds out).
  • A chest housing some Water of Life can be found in a small side-cave to the left of the entrance to Teppe Ruins. A pile of loose snow will bury the chest before long, but it's nothing a Fireball can't fix.

Analysis

Although rare, Water of Life can be obtained early in a game, at which point the only other way to revive fallen party members is going to a sanctum. Due to their rarity, however, Water of Life is best saved for boss battles rather than fights with minor enemies. Fortunately, a limitless supply of Water of Life can be obtained from certain minigames or as monster drops, allowing them to be used more freely near the end of a game.

Sooner or later, a party member will learn the Revive Psynergy, which has the same effect as Water of Life for a relatively low cost of only 15 Psynergy Points. While Revive will likely see much more use than Water of Life, players would be wise to keep some Water of Life on hand should all the Adepts who know Revive fall in battle.

While there are Djinn who can revive fallen allies, their success rate is usually low and they rarely restore all of an Adept's Hit Points. While these Djinn do allow for the conservation of Water of Life, they are not the best option when faced with a crisis.
