Golden Sun: Dark Dawn/Side Scripts/Belinsk
From Golden Sun Universe
These pages compile almost all incidental NPC dialogue, both spoken and accessed with Spirit Sense, that exist separately from the "main cutscenes" in Golden Sun: Dark Dawn. This can be used as a reference to more easily look up all optional gossip at each settlement in the game without painstakingly talking to each NPC and casting the Spirit Sense Psynergy on them. Some technically optional dialogue the player is very likely to read is omitted. All text in italics is conveyed through Spirit Sense.

Karis, when trying to leave Belinsk early Let's get some information before we leave. I'll bet the band members see all sorts of people come through.
Trumpeter (before any band members leave) Hey—got a request? [No] We get a lot out of traveling Morgal playing our music. It's nice to be able to bring joy to people. It may be only a temporary respite from troubles, but it's great to help people forget their cares. [Yes] We have five band members right now, so there are three different songs we can play. [Choice] Mountain Roc Rising. Lake Bycal Moonlight. Rainbow over Koba Desert. Maybe another time... [If "Mountain Roc Rising" is chosen] Ahem... One, two, three, four... [If a different song is chosen] Ahem... One, two, three...
Cellist, if "Mountain Roc Rising" is currently playing "Mountain Roc Rising" is sure to wake you up and knock the wax out of your ears!
Cellist, if "Lake Bycal Moonlight" is currently playing "Lake Bycal Moonlight" takes us back to a simpler time. Reminisce with us!
Cellist, if "Rainbow over Koba Desert" is currently playing "Rainbow over Koba Desert" is one of those songs that tugs at your heartstrings. Give it a listen...
Percussionist I know I'm supposed to keep perfect rhythm, but sometimes I kinda want to mess it up on purpose, you know?
Pianist Everyone's sounding so good! Seems like we get better each time we travel.
Violinist The harmony, the rhythm... It feels good when everything just clicks.
Trumpeter (while only three band members are present) Hey—got a request? [Yes] We've only got three band members together right now, so our repertoire is kinda limited. Wanna hear something? [Choice] Mountain Roc Rising. Maybe another time...
Cellist (while only three band members are present) Looks like some of the band is out wandering. I guess we're a small group today, but simplicity can be good.
Percussionist (while only three band members are present) With only three musicians, we tend to rely on a really rhythmic sound, but occasional solos spice things up.
Trumpeter (while four band members are present) Hey—got a request? [Yes] Now we've got four band members, so we can play two different songs. Interested? [Choice] Mountain Roc Rising. Lake Bycal Moonlight. Maybe another time...
Cellist (while four band members are present) A four-musician ensemble is called a quartet. It's a good sound, but it's lacking something...
Percussionist (while four band members are present) Playing in a small group is fine and all, but you'd be amazed how much just one more player adds to the sound.
Pianist (while four band members are present) I came right here after we talked. I'd forgotten how much fun it is to play with a band. Now find the others!
Trumpeter (while the five initial band members are back together) Hey—got a request? [Yes] We have five band members now, so we can actually play three songs! Sound good? [Choice] Mountain Roc Rising. Lake Bycal Moonlight. Rainbow over Koba Desert. Maybe another time...
Cellist (while the five initial band members are back together) Hmmm... Five musicians playing together sounds pretty good, but I'd love to hear six!
Percussionist (while the five initial band members are back together) If you run into a musician named Vande, I'd appreciate it if you told him to come back home. If you tell him that it's a message from his band, he'll probably listen.
Pianist (while the five initial band members are back together) Yeah, some five-member quintet action! Of course, it also just reminds me how much I like having six...
Violinist (while the five initial band members are back together) Where's Vande? We can't play "Arangoa Prelude" without him!
Woman left of statue (while all five band members are present initially) These minstrels play all kinds of different music, depending on mood and who shows up to play.
Woman left of statue (after two band members had left) The minstrels play many different kinds of music, depending on who shows up to play that day. I wish I could get them to play "Lake Bycal Moonlight." If you can arrange that, I'll share a secret.
Woman left of statue (if "Lake Bycal Moonlight" is playing) What a lovely song... Such beautiful harmonies... Thank you for making this happen. Here's my secret: there's a hidden passage behind a bookshelf in the library. The library's under the chapel.
Man right of statue (if "Mountain Roc Rising" is playing) This is a piece of music called "Mountain Roc Rising." Amazing percussion, eh?
Man right of statue (if "Lake Bycal Moonlight" is playing) This is a piece of music called "Lake Bycal Moonlight." It takes me back to my younger days...
Man right of statue (if "Rainbow over Koba Desert" is playing) This is a piece of music called "Rainbow Over Koba Desert." It's sentimental...but I like it.
Young woman at southwest cart Have I seen an old human come into town? No, can't say I have. And I watch the front gate closely.
Woman atop southwest wall Good King Volechek finally caught that Champa ruffian, Eoleo, scourge of the Eastern Sea. He's going to be boiled to death on the next full moon. Better than he deserves, if you ask me.
Man atop southwest wall Since brave Volechek became the king of Morgal, we've started calling ourselves the Fang Tribe.
Man southwest of statue Cool, crisp air... Just the hint of a breeze, carrying the scent of the sea. Isn't it a glorious day? [Yes] Yes, the kind of day that makes you forget your troubles and maybe sing a little bit... "Well, Khiren Glacier's great, It provides run-off to Lake Bycal—" Sorry! I just really like our water-supply song... [No] Well, fine. I'll just go and enjoy the weather by myself.
Businessman in blue at northwest end King Volechek apparently won't establish friendly relations with Bilibin and Sana for personal reasons. Volechek's parents were killed in the war we lost against the Sanans, and Bilibin refused to lend help.
Old woman to the southeast I don't see how boiling anyone can accomplish anything good. We'll wind up at war with Champa too.
Old man to the southeast The peoples of Champa and Morgal are more alike than most of my countrymen would care to admit. Both cultures regard family very highly...which makes me worry about what Briggs will do to us...
Old man in west residence As a young man, I was a human just like you. The Golden Sun changed all that. Day by day, my hair grew thicker and thicker, and now I just have fur. Most beastmen will say the same.
Old woman in west residence When we first became beastmen, a lot of humans hated us for being different. It was hard for a while. Eventually, we all migrated north to Morgal. We didn't plan it, but this is where we all wound up...
Man in armory I heard Sana invaded Morgal because Emperor Ko thought blood from the Mountain Roc would make him immortal. I don't know why their army left without Lord Kuan, but all the Sanan soldiers who stayed were wiped out.
Man downstairs in inn Thirty years ago, I was an ordinary animal. Now look at me! I'm wearing clothes and walking on my hind legs!
Woman at sanctum Now that I walk on just my hind legs, I've sort of lost my taste for raw meat and such. Mostly.
Inspect upper-right bookcase in library The Mythical Mountain Roc: Many still consider the Mountain Roc to be mere legend, with good reason. All those who have gone in search of the great bird have found nothing. Clearly the roc chooses who sees it.
Inspect upper-central bookcase in library The Symbol of Morgal: The Mountain Roc has a strong connection to the Belinsk ruins. The bird image carved into the ruins is clearly that of a Mountain Roc, implying the ancients also revered it.
Inspect upper-left bookcase in library Ancient Ruins of Belinsk: The Belinsk ruins are among the largest remaining from ancient times. Taken together, the sections built above and below the water make for a truly massive structure.
Inspect far-left bookcase in library This is a mural of Belinsk. Inspecting it you notice the image of a tall tower. The tower is projecting starbursts, illuminated by the sun. Behind it is a full-moon sky.
Inspect center-left bookcase in library The People of Morgal: A bright and cheerful people, those of Morgal are not at all warlike. Contributing to the nation's carefree reputation, Morgal drops everything for a major festival every full moon.
Inspect center-right bookcase in library The Beastman Explosion: After the Golden Sun, the Morgal people began growing fur. The fur was followed by long snouts, fangs, and claws, completing the transformation into beastmen.
Inspect left bookcase at right end of library On Beastman Abilities: It is not known if the abilities unique to beastmen use standard Psynergy. Clearly some sort of Psynergy is being used, but powers such as Track have simply not existed before now.
Inspect lower-left bookcase in library Arangoa Prelude: Played for generations, the Prelude is said to be music for the gods. Legend says that, played with sufficient skill, this piece can bring happiness to all people, but this has yet to happen.
Inspect lower-right bookcase in library Belinsk and Music: Music was a part of Morgal culture since long before we were a country. The addition of a music hall when the castle was built was apparently a revelation that came in a dream.
Left guard outside Belinsk Castle (first interaction) You have business in Belinsk Castle? [Yes] The castle is open to the public during the festival. Come then if you want to have a look around. [No] You guys look like warriors. Have you, like, fought in wars? [Yes] I'll bet the king would be interested in meeting seasoned warriors like yourselves. Pity he's so busy... I've got it! Come back the day after the festival, and I'll let you in to see the king. [No] Huh. I guess I was wrong. You sure look like warriors, though...
Left guard outside Belinsk Castle (if you claimed you fought in wars) I don't know what King Volechek will say when he sees you...
Right guard outside Belinsk Castle Everyone is very busy getting ready for tonight's festival. You should just come back tomorrow.
Boy on barrel near dock I heard they caught a Sanan girl, but I don't know what happened to her after she went to the castle.
Girl near dock An old human? No, no one like that has come in by boat in a long, long time.
Man near dock Morgal has always been surrounded by enemies. I suppose that's our lot as beastmen, though.
Old man in Opera House There's an old legend about this opera house that everyone 'round here knows. Care to hear it? This opera house has always been home to beautiful music—music that enchants everyone who hears. A dragon loved this music and never wanted to be apart from it, so it turned itself into a chandelier inside. Everyone thinks Crystallux is just a myth, but I still believe it's real.
Girl in red dress on stage One of the chandeliers here is actually a dragon! I've never seen it, but I bring it dinner every day. It must really like the food I make, 'cause it's always eaten up when I come back! Everyone laughs, but I'm certain that the crystal dragon exists. Grampa said that someday we'd meet him, together.
Guard outside gate This is the emblem of our proud nation of Morgal. If you don't recognize it, that bird in the emblem is Morgal's divine bird, the Mountain Roc! Morgal warriors wear the roc emblem proudly—and have for generations. Since you're not from around here, have you ever heard of the Mountain Roc? [Yes] Nobody even thought it existed until the Golden Sun event, and it's still a rare privilege to see it. [No] It's a divine bird that Morgal is devoted to protecting. You can read about it in the library if you like.
Belinsk (after fighting Mountain Roc)
Vande I'm happy to announce that your voices have been heard, and we're about to play "Arangoa Prelude"!
Trumpeter
Hey—got a request?
[No] Hey! Today's the festival—comes once a month. You can request or not, but we'll keep playing.
[Yes] Right... "That" song... Do you want us to go ahead and play that right now?
[Yes] [Initiates cutscene]
[No] Wanna hear another?
[No] Gotcha. Come back anytime if you want to hear "that" song.
[Yes] [Choice] Mountain Roc Rising. Lake Bycal Moonlight. Rainbow over Koba Desert. Arangoa Prelude.
Cellist A certain someone just returned to Belinsk and told us that a group of warriors would come soon.
Percussionist A little bird told us there would be a request for "Arangoa Prelude" tonight.
Pianist Thanks to you, our favorite fan came back to town!
Violinist We've all been waiting for an excuse to throw ourselves into "Arangoa"!
Woman left of statue Yes! They've got Vande back with them! We'll finally get to hear them at their best again.
Man right of statue Ooh! Looks like the whole band is here for the festival! Maybe we'll be lucky and they'll play THAT song.
Young woman at southwest cart When my fur wasn't quite so thick, I couldn't stand public executions. They just seemed so...barbaric. Now that I'm a little older, I've got a strange sense of anticipation about tonight's boiling.
Woman atop southwest wall That noise from the direction of Teppe sounded like a bird. A really BIG bird. You don't suppose...?
Man atop southwest wall Not long after Volechek took power, the public executions started— a nice distraction for the people.
Man south of statue Do you know about this evening's entertainment? [Yes] Yeah! I can hardly wait for that rotten Eoleo to get what's coming to him in the boiling pot! [No] You haven't heard? The infamous pirate Eoleo is going to be executed by boiling! I can't wait!
Businessman in blue at northwest end It used to be that Morgal was very dangerous under the full moon, when beastmen have short tempers. There would be many fights on those days. Of course, now we have public executions to take the edge off...
Old man to the southeast Belinsk was built on some sort of ancient ruins. I guess the old place had something to do with the moon? I gather the whole reason for the full-moon festival is to beg the heavens to restore the ruins.
Old man in west residence What a wonderful day for a festival! I'm so grateful just to be here to enjoy it!
Old woman in west residence Yes, we're all overflowing with vigor and power on the full moon, but we always beware the new-moon fatigue.
Man in armory Wow. I expected a crowd for the festival, but nothing like THIS...
Old man in inn The moon is only full once a month, but I wish it was more often. We beastmen always feel extra energized under the full moon. It's like being young again!
Man downstairs in inn Beastmen who were originally beasts get an energy boost from the full moon, but that's nothing. The ones who really get crazy in the moonlight are the ex-humans. Those guys know how to party!
Woman at sanctum Awww... The human beastmen just love their full moons. It's really very cute...
Man at sanctum WOO HOO HOOO HOOOooooo! Nothing like a full moon to get your blood pumping!
Boy on barrel near dock *Sniff, sniff* ...What did you guys just have for dinner? You smell like some kind of divine poultry!
Girl near dock Yay! It's festival day!
Man near dock Under a full moon, there's nothing that a beastman cannot accomplish. It just so happens that we won the war against the Sanans on a full-moon day.
Any swaying beastman (during "Arangoa Prelude") [System Message] He/She seems entranced by the music.
Sveta (in Belinsk Ruins, if you attempt to leave) I will wait here. When you've finished your preparations, come back and see me. [If she is holding important items] I'll give this back to you now.
Sveta (in Belinsk Ruins, if you return to Belinsk Ruins) Let's get moving!
Sveta (in Belinsk Ruins, if you head back south before going north toward the castle) Matthew, I believe you're going the wrong way. We need to go north to get into Belinsk Castle. Or did you have business to the south? [Yes] I understand you are interested in the ruins, but they can wait. Now, we need to get into Belinsk Castle. [No] [Sveta] Ah, you got turned around? No problem. Let's head north into the castle, then.
Belinsk (after Luna Tower rises)
Ryu Kou (if you approach the south exit before reaching Hou Ju) Hey! Are you forgetting about my sister, Hou Ju? [Yes] If you haven't forgotten, why are you trying to leave town before we've found her? [No] You forgot?! What kind of mental lapse could possibly explain that?! I can't believe you would try to leave without helping my sister... Time to get looking!
Karis (if you approach the south exit before reaching Eoleo) Hey, um, Matthew? Where are you going? You wouldn't go back on your word to Briggs, would you? [Yes] Good. So we're still here to rescue his son, Eoleo. [No] Don't forget we promised to rescue his son, Eoleo! Briggs may not be a champion of decency or anything, but we can't just let his son die. Let's get to work.
Spirit Sense first gravestone left of Luna Tower Why did the ancients make so many machines that can wreck the world...?
Spirit Sense second gravestone left of Luna Tower What...happened? That...that... tower appears out of nowhere, and there goes Belinsk in a handbasket! I thought King Volechek would keep us safe, but I was terribly, terribly wrong...
Spirit Sense third gravestone left of Luna Tower Even here, beyond the grave, I still ponder the mystery I spent my life researching: were the people of Morgal back in the age of Alchemy also beastmen?
Spirit Sense fourth gravestone left of Luna Tower If this eclipse is as serious as it seems, I imagine we ghosts will have lots of company soon...
Vande It's thanks to you that I came back to Belinsk and got to witness this miracle. Thank you. What's that funny feeling in my stomach? Is that excitement? Or...fear?
Trumpeter That tower can't just have appeared because we played "Arangoa Prelude," can it? Is that tower really from an ancient civilization? They sure did things differently back then...
Cellist Strange things always happen when we play that song, but this... This is new. It's probably just a coincidence that the tower came up right after the song ended... Probably.
Percussionist "Arangoa Prelude" is supposed to date back to the ancient Belinsk civilization, just like that tower... Looking at the tower gives me the same chills as hearing "Arangoa Prelude." I think they're linked.
Pianist That's it. We're only playing current music from now on. I just thought it was everyone's favorite song, not an architectural technique!
Violinist This is a sign. The tower's restoration means that a miracle will happen...soon. I never thought they'd bring the tower back! The city's really gone all out for this festival!
Woman left of statue I was all relaxed after hearing "Arangoa Prelude," and then I saw the tower. Now my heart is pounding! Is it the tower's beauty that gives me chills, or is it something else?
Man right of statue After hearing "Arangoa Prelude," I feel sort of dreamy... Wait...that tower wasn't there before, was it...? "Arangoa Prelude" just makes my head swim. I feel like I'm drowning in musical beauty!
Young woman at southwest cart Everyone was getting impatient for the execution, then THAT appeared and we all forgot about it... I can't believe how tall that tower is! It's kind of ominous...
Woman atop southwest wall Is this what we've been praying for? Have the Belinsk ruins been restored? I've been hearing about Luna Tower since I was a child, but who knew it was real?! How exciting!
Man atop southwest wall Why was there a tower under the museum? And how did it come out? Luna Tower is real?! And it was under the museum?!
Man southwest of statue Y-you saw it, right? Something came up from under the museum. Something big! My fur is all tingly and standing on end! I never thought I'd see a museum shoot into the air like that!
Businessman in blue at northwest end Can you see me shaking? [Yes] I'm not frightened or anything... just excited about what this means for Belinsk. That's all. [No] Of course not. I'm a businessman, and I'm not about to get flustered by minor distractions! I can hardly look at that tower without shaking. Something bad is about to happen... I wonder if that's what you call "animal instinct."
Old man to the southeast Yep... Ancient Belinsk construction— I'm sure of it. Don't know what it's for, but probably an amazing weapon. I thought the trembling was an earthquake at first... How will I get to the museum now?
Old man in west residence (initial interaction) Waaaah?! *crash* I probably shouldn't try to drink tea while half-asleep anymore...
Old man in west residence (subsequent interactions) Zzzzzz... Bah. I'm going to have to clean up that mess in the morning...
Old woman in west residence Everyone seems really lively tonight, even for an execution day. Where do they get the energy? What is going on outside? It's so noisy, how am I supposed to sleep?
Man in armory
Uh, you guys can see the big tower over there, right?
[Yes] Then it IS real! We've been praying for the ruins' restoration so long, I thought it might be a hallucination.
[No] Oh...you can't? I guess that means it IS a hallucination. Disappointing.
So that's Luna Tower? It's so much more impressive than it sounded in the fairy tales!
Armor shopkeeper That noise from the outside was horrendous! What could be going on out there?
Weapon shopkeeper I can't believe they'd cancel the boiling and open up the castle just because ONE stupid tower appears!
Item shopkeeper I can't believe how many people are around at this hour! I guess festivals make people more...festive.
Old man in inn Our ancestors' civilization is reborn! What a blessing for Belinsk and beastmen everywhere! Luna Tower has returned! Glory to Morgal!
Innkeeper These warriors are barely more than children, but they've obviously seen more than their share of battle.
Man downstairs in inn Another new day... But can I get a little more rest before it starts for real? I'm too old for this "staying up until all hours" thing these days. I need to sit the next festival out...
Woman at sanctum I wonder if the human beastmen have finally calmed down. They're just little bundles of energy every month! Those human-born beastmen are just crazy under the full moon! I hope nothing bad ever comes of it...
Healer at sanctum That divine light! I don't think I've ever seen anything so wonderful!
Man upstairs at sanctum I just don't know what to make of the giant tower thing. If it turns out to be an enemy weapon of some sort, we're in big, big trouble. Why is everyone so sure that a mysterious tower popping out of the ground is a GOOD sign?
Boy on barrel near dock It's waaaay past my bedtime, but I'm not even a little sleepy! Yay, festival! Festival, music, towers popping out of the ground... This is the best day ever!
Girl near dock I really wanted to see the boiling... I guess I should feel lucky that I got to see something. Meh. Something smells wrong about all this. I should know—I've got the best nose in the kingdom!
Man near dock Under a full moon, there's nothing that a beastman cannot accomplish. It just so happens that we won the war against the Sanans on a full-moon day.
Belinsk Castle (pre-Eclipse)
Left guard outside Belinsk Castle My orders are to let you pass. Please head on in. If I let people I don't know into the castle, am I still technically a guard?
Right guard outside Belinsk Castle The masked man whom the king favors ordered us to let you pass. How do you know him? I hope the masked man knows what he's doing. If it were up to me, I wouldn't let these guys in.
Guard in starting hall By order of the great masked warrior, you are allowed into the castle. Be grateful he deemed you worthy. Why does the masked warrior find THEM so interesting? What's so special about them?
Woman in starting hall Many apologies, sirs and madams, but only the king is allowed into this area. One look at the floor should let everyone know this is the king's private spot. Can these people not remember they are common visitors to the home of a king?
Guard in front of the king's bedroom I don't know where you're going, but this isn't the way there. Go back and find the right way. Just because you're allowed in the gate doesn't mean you get to go everywhere you want, intruders...
Old man in king's bedroom I don't know how that tower appeared, but I'll bet King Volechek is somehow responsible. He is a remarkable leader. I don't understand. The king said the tower would let Morgal live without fear, but he looked deathly pale just now...
East guard in long hall The ones you want are at the ends of these two halls. If you want to rescue the little girl first, head right. With so many visitors lately, I'm not sure who I'm supposed to be guarding the castle FROM.
West guard in long hall I have never seen people so mad about the cancellation of a boiling! There could have been a riot. Now that we can't execute him, would you just get the guy out of here? He's an eyesore. The festival just isn't the festival without a good boiling. Everybody is really disappointed...
Old man at west end of long hall The man we were going to boil? He's quite well. I try to take good care of our prisoners. What sort of people go to great lengths to rescue a worthless pirate?
Woman before stairs leading to Eoleo I wouldn't walk around in here too much... You might run into the king and his foul mood. I hear those strange people that came to rescue the princess also rescued the pirate. Who ARE they?
Woman before stairs leading to Eoleo (if you haven't rescued Hou Ju) I don't want to tell you your job, but isn't it traditional to rescue the princess before the pirate? [Yes] Then you'll need to start in the cells over there. What are you waiting for, a white horse to ride up on? [No] Well, if you want to save the criminal scum first, this is the right place. But I can't say I support your decision.
Ryu Kou (if you go further without rescuing Hou Ju) Matthew, you wouldn't really help the sea thug before saving Hou Ju, would you? [Yes] Are you insane?! Look, I can't stop you, but I do question your priorities and judgment. [No] Whew! Well, then we need to take that path over there to where Hou Ju is!
Guard in starting hall (after rescuing Hou Ju) "Leave Belinsk as fast as I can"? Why would I want to do that? Can't you see I'm on duty? Three Sanans left here in a hurry. Probably worried about being captured again. Cowards.
Woman in starting hall (after rescuing Hou Ju) King Volechek told us to leave the castle at once. I think he wants us out of the way to make more messes. I'm sure humans are nice and all, but how do they stand the way they smell?
Guard in front of the king's bedroom (after rescuing Hou Ju) How could a tower cause some great catastrophe? Listen to what you're saying, friend. Don't even think about trying to do something suspicious while I'm on duty!
Old man in king's bedroom (after rescuing Hou Ju) Pardon me, but have you seen the king? I can't seem to locate him anywhere... The king looked most unsettled just now as he passed. Where was he heading?
East guard in long hall (after rescuing Hou Ju) I must not have heard you right. Did you just tell me to flee Belinsk? [Yes] Huh. No, I don't think I'm gonna do that. Now move along. [No] Oh. Well, OK then. Must have been my imagination. I don't like all these pirate scum and friends of pirate scum prowling around...
West guard in long hall (after rescuing Hou Ju) A terrible disaster coming? Tell me another one, kids. What, they never seen a castle before? Time to take your grimy friend and get out of here, kids.
Old man at west end of long hall (after rescuing Hou Ju) King Volechek has a, shall we say, volatile temper. You'd best conclude your business and leave. The king is a man of his word, so the pirate will be allowed to leave unharmed. But if he ever threatens Morgal again...
Woman before stairs leading to Eoleo (after rescuing Hou Ju) These night shifts are killing me! I can hardly wait for daybreak so I can go home to bed... It's hard to get any work done with all these visitors tromping around. When will they leave?
Right guard east of Eoleo (first interaction) The pirate has strange powers of some sort. We had to tie him up outside to keep him put. You'd be amazed at how being strung up like a piece of meat takes the fight out of you.
Right guard east of Eoleo (subsequent interaction) I was told that the pirate has strange powers, so we tied him up for safety. Why did they cancel the boiling of that ill-mannered pirate? He really does need a good boiling...
Left guard east of Eoleo Dawn will be coming soon... I guess this festival is almost over... The festival's always a good time... Pity they had to start on that down note by canceling the boiling...
Belinsk Castle (Grave Eclipse)
Old man at west end of long hall It's good to see King Volechek and his soldiers helping the people, but now the castle is almost unguarded... I wish King Volechek was here. Having the greatest warrior in Morgal nearby would be comforting.
Woman before stairs leading to Eoleo's empty cell I was going to go home at first light...but I think I'll stay in the castle for a while longer. I can feel every hair on my body standing on end... Something is about to happen...
West guard in long hall Once we've got all you visitors out of the castle, I'm going home to check on my family. I've never heard screams like that before... Should I go outside and see? Or should I wait for orders?
East guard in long hall Did you just get a chill up your spine? I've got this overpowering urge to go outside... Remember your training... Don't worry about the horrible sounds outside... Your training...
Guard in starting hall
Did you hear all those horrible screams coming from out in front of the castle?
[Yes] Disturbing, weren't they? The king rode into town with his guards the second he heard the commotion.
[No] You didn't hear it at all? Any of it? You humans have such terrible ears, it's a wonder you hear anything.
The screams outside sure sound like a battle, but who could be attacking the very heart of Morgal?
Woman in starting hall What are those groaning sounds coming from outside? Why would anyone want to sound so creepy? I wonder if those sounds are the groans of the ghosts of all the soldiers lost in our wars...
Guard in front of the king's bedroom My gut says something weird is happening in the city... I wonder if I should leave my post. What's wrong with me? Why am I sweating so much? Something to do with the commotion outside?
Old man in king's bedroom There's a strange noise coming from outside... Something that doesn't sound like man or beast... There are always odd sounds in the castle, but the noises tonight bother me for some reason...
Left wounded guard outside Belinsk Castle We saw...the shadow of the moon...and then the monsters were on us. Monsters everywhere... Have to protect people... Can't really move, though...
Right wounded guard outside Belinsk Castle The horror... The horror... I wanna go home...
Belinsk (Grave Eclipse)
Vande The other members of the band have all left town. I might be the only musician in Belinsk. I guess everyone in the band is all right. Now, how can I help the townsfolk?
Person in purple lying near top of main town I regret nothing... Fight bravely, King Volechek... If this is the end, I think I did OK for myself... I fought beside the king and freed Morgal from the Sanans... I helped out at that soup kitchen when I could... Polite to my elders... Yeah... Mission accomplished.
Wounded soldier at northeast part of town They caught me off guard, and now...I have to pay for it. Looking back on my career as a soldier, I don't think I ever actually fought anyone... I stood guard, peeled a potato or two, cleaned the latrine... Nope! No actual soldiering. Huh.
Man wandering near stage I can't find my children! OK, before all the commotion, they were playing by the statue... Where are they now?
Woman near piano Eep! What do you want, furless? Leave me alone! Not that I'm complaining, but why have the monsters left me alone? Is something protecting me?
Wounded person northwest of statue I couldn't even see the monsters... Everything went sort of fuzzy... I feel better than I have in years! My back doesn't hurt, and I'm more relaxed than I've ever felt!
Man wandering east of statue I'm no soldier... I didn't have a weapon... What could I possibly have done? Stay out of the shadows... Stay out of the shadows... Stay out of the shadows...
Man wandering south of statue Monsters! Here! What can it mean? More people might have made it if the monsters hadn't appeared so suddenly. No one was prepared...
Corpse southeast of statue The remains of some unfortunate soul. Ahhhh... Nothing like a nice lie-down to relax you. Probably time to get up now... Why can't I move?
Man near corpse The monsters! They...they... Honey?! Come on—we have to get out of here! Why won't you move?! I heard a scream outside and looked away... It couldn't have been more than a second. Then I heard a thump, and when I looked back, my darling wife...
Wounded young woman near south end The morning light was too bright, so I tried to find some shade... I-I...I don't want to die... What...happened? I remember there was something moving in the shadows, and then...
Old person in bright end down south If you see a horrible shadow monster, don't panic. Remember, he's more afraid of you than you are of him. Just like with dogs, a stern word seems to make those monsters just lumber on past. I wonder if it helped that I was standing stock still, too frightened to move?
Corpse south of inn The remains of some unfortunate soul. The city is in chaos! What happened?!
Armor shopkeeper I wish I could just quit my job and run away to see the world... But who would take care of Mom?
Weapon shopkeeper I've got a bad feeling about this.
Item shopkeeper Did the noise outside just get a lot more...panicky?
Wounded old man in Opera House My granddaughter! Where is she?! Please, Crystallux, watch over my granddaughter and keep her safe...
Lower-left corpse The remains of some unfortunate soul. I guess you were right after all, Mom. I shouldn't have become a soldier...
Upper-left corpse The remains of some unfortunate soul. Where did that girl go? I hope she's all right...
Upper-right corpse The remains of some unfortunate soul. I wish I had two more lives to give for my country and King Volechek!
Lower-right corpse The remains of some unfortunate soul. I thought I'd die on some glorious battlefield, not a gaudy opera house...
Spirit Sense fifth gravestone left of Luna Tower At least I was buried near the opera house where I heard the music I loved...
Spirit Sense sixth gravestone left of Luna Tower After all my years walking the earth, nothing could have prepared me for this nightmarish eclipse.
Belinsk (sailing ship at pier)
Karis, if Matthew attempts to head back into Belinsk We can't go back now. Turning back would endanger everyone. ...I'm sorry.
Upper-right pirate Don't tell nobody, but we didn't repair the ship. We gave up, but the next time we looked, the ship was fixed! Oh, and it moves without oars or wind now. It's the strangest thing I ever seen...
Lower-right pirate We don't need to sail or row this thing... Why am I even here?
Center pirate Looks like a blizzard's closin' in on us. If we don't move quicklike, the ice on the hull will do us in.
Karis Sveta's worried sick about her brother and won't leave the deck. I wish I could comfort her somehow.
Sveta Where is Volechek? He's the mightiest warrior in Morgal— he has to have survived...
Rief Kraden seems extremely preoccupied. Something about this ship must fascinate him.
Tyrell Why are we still awake? None of us slept at all last night! You all do what you want, but I'm taking a nap.
Amiti We are partly to blame for what has happened here, but I cannot imagine how to correct it. For the first time in my life, I feel entirely powerless.
Kraden Everyone said that Briggs's ship was essentially a floating wreck, but it seems remarkably seaworthy now. As talented as they are, I don't think even Port Rago's shipwrights could have done all this...
Eoleo We're ready to go. Time to push off? [No] Need more time to get things square? Fine. I'll be here. Just let me know when we can ship out. [Yes] [Cutscene plays]
