Golden Sun: Dark Dawn/Side Scripts/Champa

These pages compile almost all incidental NPC dialogue, both spoken and accessed with Spirit Sense, that exist separately from the "main cutscenes" in Golden Sun: Dark Dawn. This can be used as a reference to more easily look up all optional gossip at each settlement in the game without painstakingly talking to each NPC and casting the Spirit Sense Psynergy on them. Some technically optional dialogue the player is very likely to read is omitted. All text in italics is conveyed through Spirit Sense.

Champa Camp
Young man at west end Once, Champa was just a poor village. Now it's a poor country. Bigger does not mean richer. When the Golden Sun made the land fertile again, we just didn't have any skilled farmers. We'd gotten so dependent on piracy for our living that we didn't even know another way of life...
Woman under west palm trees In the old days, Briggs used to bring food for the village. I guess we'll go hungry now... Briggs was practically the only one of us who knew anything about piracy. With him gone...
Boy under west palm trees Somehow Obaba knew that something like this would happen, so she made us take our stuff out of the village. I miss Obaba's stories, but she never comes down here anymore. Maybe I'll sneak up to her...
Girl at southwest shore The village is burning up. Even if the eclipse gets over soon, we won't have anywhere to live. I hope we can build new houses when this is all over. I'm done camping for now.
Man at southwest shore I guess Obaba is right... If burning the houses keeps the monsters at bay, that's what we have to do... I know it's necessary, but it's hard to just watch the houses burn. And what happens when they're gone?
Man left of inn tent Since the eclipse, we've had to burn the houses to make light. Soon there won't be a village to save. I miss my house...
Woman outside inn tent Who knew that old scalawag Briggs could die? I just assumed he'd be salt-preserved forever... As captain of the pirates, Briggs pretty much led the whole country. But he never wanted to be king...
Innkeeper What else can I do but open up the inn and let Matthew stay? Not for free, of course. Times are tough.
Item shopkeeper It's only thanks to Obaba that we have survived. Her prophecy told us about the dangers of the dark.
Old man southeast of item shopkeeper Obaba was Briggs's grandmother, and Briggs wasn't a young man. How old is she? Obaba's been around for as long as I can remember... I can't imagine Champa without her.
Woman in weapon tent As a pirate nation, we always need weapons, so we keep the armory well stocked. Care to buy something? Selling stuff the pirates claim as salvage or booty sure is profitable. I wonder if they've found any more treasure maps to other old gear...
Boy in weapon tent Notice how shiny the weapons are? I shined 'em myself! ...With Dad's help, anyway... That sword the pirates pulled out of the ocean sure was rusty, but it polished up nice!
Weapon shopkeeper With Briggs gone, I guess I made the right choice, giving up raiding the Sanan Sea to open a shop. But I miss it.
Old woman outside armor tent The village is just over there, but instead of living in it, we have to sleep in tents. What did we do wrong? Why does my tent always seem to be filled with mosquitoes? And when can we go home?
Old man in armor tent These tents are kind of cramped, but my son managed to open a business in one, anyway. I LOVE selling things we got for free. It's like getting money for nothing!
Woman in armor tent Sure, everyone needs weapons, but no one has any money to buy them. Why is the shop still open? These people obviously have money and a ship. Why are they shopping for their weapons in a tent?
Armor shopkeeper I wish I was half the smith that Obaba is. She once made a weapon that defeated the sea god Poseidon!
Pirate east of armor tent Once Obaba goes, the ancient ways of the Ankohl civilization will go with her. Sad... If all of the Ankohl were as tough as Obaba, I can't imagine how they died out...
Healer at sanctum stand Those who believe pirates evil would do well to see how my flock cares for each other in this crisis.

Left man adding to fire If the fires go out, Obaba won't last. We have to keep finding more fuel to keep her safe! If we have to burn every house in our village to keep Obaba safe, so be it.
Right man adding to fire If the old lady would just come down and join the rest of us, she'd be easier to protect! I get why Obaba doesn't want to leave, but I sure do.
