Siren enemy line
The Siren, Succubus, and Nightmare are enemies that are battled throughout each game in the Golden Sun series. Like most enemy lines, they are palette swaps of each other that have differing levels of power and defense and are fought in different locations in the games. Though Dark Dawn gives them a slight redesign, all variants resemble human females with slight demonic features.
In Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age
Siren
A Siren (サッキュバス Succubus) is an orange-haired level 10 variant with a light green dress and purple boots. The Siren is only fought throughout in Mercury Lighthouse.
The Siren certainly qualifies as one of the standout monsters battled in Mercury Lighthouse, having the highest Agility and Attack rating and slightly outperforming the Harpy in all stats. Only the Lizard Man has higher HP and Defense. Therefore, it is these monsters you should generally focus your attacks on throughout the dungeon.
It is a pretty good source of Crystal Powders which, when used, are nothing more or less than free Hail Prisms - this can be rather useful, considering the fact that Saturos, the boss of the dungeon where Sirens are located, is weak to Mercury-based attacks.
A Siren is especially likely to be affected by Psynergy Seal. Its statistics are as follows:
Name | HP | PP | Attack | Defense | Agility | Luck |
Siren | 116 | 12 | 107 | 27 | 54 | 9 |
Elemental Resistances and Levels | Exp | Coins | Item Dropped | Drop Rate
127 (Lv 3) 100 (Lv 2) 100 (Lv 2) 72 (Lv 2) | 45 | 56 | Crystal Powder | 1/16 |

Succubus
- For the Psynergy, see Succubus (Psynergy).
The Succubus (ナイトメアクイーン Nightmare Queen) is a blue-haired level 17 variant with a turquoise dress and violet boots. In Golden Sun, only one Succubus is fought throughout the entire game, together with two Grislys as one scripted "boss" encounter that occurs on the second "dungeon floor" of the optional Crossbone Isle as soon as you try to enter the door to that floor's puzzle room. Therefore, the minimum rewards of the battle are 587 EXP, 1543 Coins, and a single guaranteed Potion.
As part of a team of three monsters that is one special encounter, the Succubus has comparatively few HP, but is the user of area of effect Psynergy for elemental damage, while the Grislys are the monsters that are strong and durable. This battle should only be adequately difficult by boss battle standards if Crossbone Isle is visited and this battle is fought earlier in the game through the hidden method at Tolbi-bound Ship. This is definitely a battle that can be won in one turn by having everyone use full-powered summons at the start, but if you decide to battle these the typical way, the Succubus is the target that goes down much more easily than the Grislys, so that should probably be focused on first. Mars-based Psynergy is what all three monsters are weak to.
The Succubus is especially likely to be affected by Psynergy Seal. Its statistics are as follows:
Name | HP | PP | Attack | Defense | Agility | Luck |
Succubus | 529 | 56 | 195 | 49 | 101 | 12 |
Elemental Resistances and Levels | Exp | Coins | Item Dropped | Drop Rate
127 (Lv 3) 100 (Lv 2) 100 (Lv 2) 72 (Lv 2) | 101 | 143 | Crystal Powder | 1/16 |

Wind Slash | 2/8 (25%) |
85 Power | Psynergy costing 9 PP that projects a moderately wide glowing purple swath of energy through each of multiple Adepts. Deals a Jupiter-aligned attack with 50 base damage that is spread out across 3 enemies with high damage distribution |

Nightmare
A Nightmare (ヘルサッキュバス Hell Succubus) is a violet-haired variant with a dark purple dress and light green boots, and it is level 24 in Golden Sun and level 31 in The Lost Age. In Golden Sun, it is first battled at Suhalla Gate, and is subsequently battled in the frontal "exit" portion to Venus Lighthouse and in the Road to Babi Lighthouse. In The Lost Age, the Nightmare can be fought in the area of Trial Road accessed by the Hover Psynergy.
In Golden Sun, the Nightmare is the fastest of the monsters it is fought alongside in both Suhalla Gate and frontal Venus Lighthouse, which, when considering its other solid-by-comparison statistics and its varied party attacks, gives it its own flavor of threat to particularly low-level parties. The Earth Golem is more or less its inverse, being the slowest but the toughest offensively and durably. In the limited area it is fought in in the second game, it is roughly equal to the monsters fought over there, having the highest HP and possessing powerful area-of-effect abilities which counterbalance its sluggishness and feebleness.
A Nightmare is especially likely to be affected by Psynergy Seal. Its statistics are as follows:
Name | HP | PP | Attack | Defense | Agility | Luck |
Nightmare | 258 | 28 | 287 | 89 | 138 | 13 |
Elemental Resistances and Levels | Exp | Coins | Item Dropped | Drop Rate

In Golden Sun: Dark Dawn
Siren
A Siren (サッキュバス Succubus) is a level 15 variant with blue hair, light blue skin, and a green dress. Sirens are fought in The Ouroboros.
The Siren is the fastest among the monsters fought in its area , which is counterbalanced by it having the lowest Attack rating by a fair margin.
A Siren is especially likely to be affected by Psynergy Seal. Its statistics are as follows:
Name | HP | PP | Attack | Defense | Agility | Luck |
Siren | 169 | 19 | 148 | 42 | 89 | 9 |
Elemental Resistances and Levels | Exp | Coins | Item Dropped | Drop Rate

Succubus
A Succubus (ナイトメアクイーン Nightmare Queen) is a level 24 variant with yellow hair, light violet skin, and a red dress. The Succubus is randomly fought in the Phantasmal Bog.
Once again, Succubi are the fastest among the monsters fought in its area. Aside from their agility, they cast powerful area-of-effect Psynergies that can prove devastating to particularly low-leveled parties.
A Succubus is especially likely to be affected by Psynergy Seal. Its statistics are as follows:
Name | HP | PP | Attack | Defense | Agility | Luck |
Succubus | 268 | 31 | 242 | 86 | 156 | 9 |
Elemental Resistances and Levels | Exp | Coins | Item Dropped | Drop Rate

Nightmare
A Nightmare (ヘルサッキュバス Hell Succubus) is a level 46 variant with red hair, light purple skin, and a black dress. The Nightmare is randomly fought in the optional Otka Island dungeon.
Nightmares, like their lesser variants, are the fastest in their domain and slightly outperforms the Winged Dragon in all stats, which is counterbalanced by their lack of offense and defenses.
This otherwise unassuming enemy is the bearer of the game's only potentially unlimited supply of the best forgeable material in Dark Dawn, Orihalcon. Like in The Lost Age, this can be turned into some of the game's best equipment, but the chance it will drop from this enemy is the lowest possible.
A Nightmare is especially likely to be affected by Psynergy Seal. Its statistics are as follows:
Name | HP | PP | Attack | Defense | Agility | Luck |
Nightmare | 521 | 53 | 457 | 227 | 330 | 11 |
Elemental Resistances and Levels | Exp | Coins | Item Dropped | Drop Rate
