Mimic enemy line (Golden Sun)
In Golden Sun, there are several enemies named Mimic that are visually identical and individually battled at several different points. Unlike a typical enemy line where the monsters are randomly encountered and battled while exploring environments, every Mimic in the game can be seen in environments and may be optionally interacted with in order to start a battle with them. Mimics are seen as unopened treasure chests, and when one of these are attempted to be opened the chest will sprout legs and pincers and automatically engage the player in a battle.
Mimics are always fairly tough individual enemies compared to the enemies that are randomly encountered when exploring an area, but are never anywhere near as threatening or durable as a boss battle. The various differently-leveled versions of the Mimic have similar sets of commands and elemental resistances, and are always guaranteed to drop some sort of valuable consumable item.
Also see Mimic enemy line (The Lost Age) and Mimic enemy line (Dark Dawn).
In Golden Sun
Eight different levels of Mimic can be found in the game. They are ordered by when each one can be first battled, which appropriately orders them by level and overall battling statistics:
Mimic (Mercury Lighthouse)
The earliest Mimic, which is at level 13, can be fought in a room in southeast Mercury Lighthouse accessible after "activating" the Lighthouse with the Ply Psynergy, and is right next to a waterfall that can be walked through to get to a secret room with a chest containing the Psynergy Armor. Its Wind Slash Psynergy hits for moderate Jupiter damage to multiple Adepts, but its low PP rating means it will not be casting much of its Psynergy spells at all.
It is especially likely to be affected by Resistance-lowering effects. Its statistics are as follows:
Name | HP | PP | Attack | Defense | Agility | Luck |
Mimic | 468 | 24 | 120 | 33 | 51 | 8 |
Elemental Resistances and Levels | Exp | Coins | Item Dropped | Drop Rate | ||
152 (Lv 4) 127 (Lv 3) 100 (Lv 3) 25 (Lv 0) | 164 | 178 | Water of Life | 1/1 |

Its Spark Plasma Psynergy hits for both strong and widespread Jupiter damage. While this Mimic is markedly stronger than all the others and has one of the highest agility ratings, compared to the larger enemy you are about to face (which uses Spark Plasma more frequently) this is no more than a warm-up battle.
