Assassin enemy line

From Golden Sun Universe

The Assassin and Slayer are enemies that are randomly battled in Golden Sun: The Lost Age. These monsters, resembling very humanlike beings in Arabian-style clothing armed with two daggers, are palette swaps of each other that have differing levels of power and defense and are fought in different locations in the game.

Assassin

An Assassin (アサッシン) is a level 18 variant with blue and green clothing and red boots. In The Lost Age, it is fought throughout Kibombo Mountains.

The Assassin has the highest HP, Attack, and Defense statistics of the random monsters that are encounterable in the Kibombo Mountains, though it is outperformed in both Agility and Luck by other monsters. Thus, despite being somewhat formidable, it is not necessarily the most dangerous enemy encountered in this region, as the Pixie's higher Agility rating may pose a greater threat to the party (as it can reliably attack first and prevent the player from fleeing the battle).

An Assassin is especially likely to be affected by instant-death effects. Its statistics are as follows:

Name HP PP Attack Defense Agility Luck
Assassin 129 0 150 35 84 13
Elemental Resistances and Levels Exp Coins Item Dropped Drop Rate
Star venus.gif 127 (Lv 3)   Star mars.gif 100 (Lv 2)   Star mercury.gif 100 (Lv 2)   Star jupiter.gif 72 (Lv 2) 97 131 Antidote.gif Antidote 1/16

An Assassin uses the following battle commands with low intelligence:

Command Chance

Description
Attack 6/8
(75%)
-- Standard physical attack.
Poison Sting 2/8
(25%)
Star venus.gif 100 Power

Enemy ability where the user shoots a green energy projectile at a targeted Adept. Deals a Venus-aligned standard physical attack with the end result multiplied by 1.2, and it has a chance to inflict the target with Poison.

Slayer

A Slayer (スレイヤー) is a level 31 variant with pink and purple clothing and green boots. In The Lost Age, it one of the common enemies fought on land throughout the entire Great Western Sea portion of the world, as well as the overworld area of the Northern Reaches and in Shaman Village Cave.

The Slayer is statistically not much different from the other four monsters commonly fought on land in the western portion of the world, and like them, would probably become "stock" monsters that will get killed soon enough in a given battle. The fact it has a potential instant-death attack is something to keep in mind, however.

A Slayer is especially likely to be affected by instant-death effects. Its statistics are as follows:

Name HP PP Attack Defense Agility Luck
Slayer 220 0 300 90 158 14
Elemental Resistances and Levels Exp Coins Item Dropped Drop Rate

Dark Murder

Dark Murder.png

The Dark Murder (ダークマーダー) exists as a named but unused variant in the code in The Lost Age, where none of its statistics and abilities are coded beyond weak placeholder abilities. Had it been used, it would have appeared as a variant with purple and brown clothing and green boots.
