Red Demon enemy line

From Golden Sun Universe
Jump to: navigation, search

The Red Demon, Lesser Demon, and Mad Demon are enemies that are battled throughout Golden Sun: The Lost Age. These monsters, resembling hefty demons with vaguely wolf-like faces and wings, are palette swaps of each other that have differing levels of power and defense and are fought in different locations in the game. All Demon variants are noteworthy for being quite tougher than other monsters fought in their areas, and for dropping a unique piece of equipment not found anywhere else. The Curse Demon enemy line in Golden Sun: Dark Dawn is a spiritual successor to this line that also blends in qualities of the separate Aka Manah enemy line.

In Golden Sun: The Lost Age[edit]

Red Demon[edit]

A Red Demon (レッドデーモン) is a violet-bodied level 19 variant with purplish blue wings. In The Lost Age, it is first battled throughout the Gabomba Statue, and subsequently throughout the Gabomba Catacombs.

In where it can first be fought, it is the strongest and most durable monster by quite a fair margin, and may actually have a threat of downing an Adept or two. It rarely drops a unique piece of equipment, however: a Staff of Anubis is, if you can get your hands on it, a great weapon for your staff-wielding Adepts to have at this point in the game, and with the Red Demon's hefty EXP and coin rewards it is well worth trying to fell each one with a Jupiter Djinni, and sticking around after you finish Gabomba Statue in story terms to accumulate EXP and Coins until you get a staff.

A Red Demon's statistics are as follows:

Name HP PP Attack Defense Agility Luck
Red Demon 228 10 173 43 90 26
Elemental Resistances Turns Exp Coins Item Dropped Drop Rate

Lesser Demon[edit]

Lesser Demon.png

A Lesser Demon (レッサードデーモン) is a pale-green-bodied level 34 variant with purplish blue wings. In The Lost Age, it is battled throughout the interior portion of Magma Rock.

Similar to the Red Demon, it is the strongest and most durable monster in its area by quite a fair margin. It rarely drops a unique piece of equipment, however: a Rune Blade is, if you can get your hands on it, a strong weapon depending on how developed your party is in statistics and inventory terms, though it is not an ideal "endgame" weapon. A Rune Blade is usually obtained off a Lesser Demon by abusing the Random Number Generator.

A Lesser Demon's statistics are as follows:

Name HP PP Attack Defense Agility Luck
Lesser Demon 410 44 374 119 178 26
Elemental Resistances Turns Exp Coins Item Dropped Drop Rate

Mad Demon[edit]

Mad Demon.png

A Mad Demon (マッドデーモン) is a light-blue-bodied level 40 variant with light green wings and dark purple legs. In The Lost Age, it is battled in the optional endgame dungeon, Anemos Inner Sanctum.

The Mad Demon is, with the possible exception of the Wonder Bird, the most powerful and dangerous random monster in The Lost Age, with durability to boot. Its immense statistics may make it prudent to use actual Summon sequences to safely combat it with, such as Thor, at least in Hard Mode if not in the normal game mode. It can drop a Lachesis' Rule, a Staff that's often a point of interest when analyzing which of the game's weapons are "the best" for particular Adepts. The Mad Demon is one of the few monsters in the series that drops its item at such an extreme rarity, however, so abusing the Random Number Generator to get the staff off this monster is heavily encouraged.

A Mad Demon's statistics are as follows:

Name HP PP Attack Defense Agility Luck
Mad Demon 745 96 567 234 213 29
Elemental Resistances Turns Exp Coins Item Dropped Drop Rate
Star venus.gif 127   Star mercury.gif 100   Star mars.gif 100   Star jupiter.gif 72   1 671 363 Lachesis Rule.gif Lachesis' Rule 1/256

A Mad Demon regenerates 4 PP at the end of every turn.

A Mad Demon uses the following battle commands:
