Gobling enemy line
The Mini-Goblin and Alec Goblin are enemies that are randomly fought in Golden Sun: The Lost Age, while the Gobling, Goblin, and Goblord are enemies that are randomly batted in Golden Sun: Dark Dawn. These would appear to be two separate enemy lines due to the fact that none of their English names match and that they have drastically different designs between games - in The Lost Age, they resemble relatively human-sized bipedal goblin-like creatures wielding spiked clubs, while in Dark Dawn they resemble much smaller, armored, goblin-like creatures wielding short swords. However, the Goblord's Japanese name matches the "Baboon Goblin" name assigned to an unused third GBA variant hidden in the code in The Lost Age, and the first two goblins of the GBA line respectively have identical sets of resistances, commands, and consumable battle-items to the first two goblins of the Dark Dawn line.
In either game's case, the aforementioned monsters are palette swaps of each other that have differing levels of power and defense and are fought in different locations in the games. In Golden Sun, there is another enemy named "Goblin"; see Hobgoblin enemy line for full details.
In Golden Sun: The Lost Age
Mini-Goblin
A Mini-Goblin (ミニゴブリン) is a green level 8 variant. In The Lost Age, it is first fought throughout Dehkan Plateau, and is subsequently fought in the lower half of the continent of Indra, as well as in Madra Catacombs.
In where they are first fought, Mini-Goblins are the toughest of the monsters that appear, which in this near-beginning part of the game can make them actual threats to a barely leveled three-member party of Adepts. Immediately following the Dehkan Plateau, though, they will be immediately outclassed by Trolls.
A Mini-Goblin is especially likely to be affected by Delusion-inflicting and Sleep-inducing effects. Its statistics are as follows:
Name | HP | PP | Attack | Defense | Agility | Luck |
Mini-Goblin | 62 | 0 | 61 | 16 | 25 | 5 |
Elemental Resistances and Levels | Exp | Coins | Item Dropped | Drop Rate | ||
100 (Lv 3) 72 (Lv 2) 72 (Lv 2) 48 (Lv 2) | 25 | 28 | Sleep Bomb | 1/16 |
A Mini-Goblin uses the following battle commands with low intelligence:
Command | Chance to use |
Elem. Stats used with * |
Description |
---|---|---|---|
Attack | 5/8 (62.5%) |
-- | Standard physical attack. |
Use Item | 3/8 (37.5%) |
-- | Uses one of the stocked items in the user's personal inventory. If there are no items remaining in stock, this being called again will instead cause the user to default to Defend (on account of slightly bugged behavior). |
On account of being an enemy with low intelligence that carries stocked items, its chance to use one of its stocked items is effectively a separate command that does not overlap with its chances to carry out other commands; while it is currently unable to use its currently "individually available" item applicably at the moment, it will default to using its remaining commands with each action. Its full inventory of items is as follows:
- 2 Herbs: Used only while a combatant on the user's side is not at maximum HP. An item that restores roughly 50 HP to either the user or an ally.
Alec Goblin
An Alec Goblin (アレックゴブリン) is a brown level 22 variant. In The Lost Age, it is one of the monsters that is fought in various areas of the overworld map accessible from the Great Eastern Sea as soon as you gain the ability to sail the Lemurian Ship.
As one of the stock monsters you would be likely to encounter on land during the portion of the game that lasts throughout the Great Eastern Sea, the Alec Goblin is generally at the height of the food chain, with the highest physical attack among the monsters on land, but it will certainly become very easy as the Great Eastern Sea arc progresses.
An Alec Goblin is especially likely to be affected by Delusion-inflicting and Sleep-inducing effects. Its statistics are as follows:
Name | HP | PP | Attack | Defense | Agility | Luck |
Alec Goblin | 147 | 0 | 190 | 48 | 91 | 7 |
Elemental Resistances and Levels | Exp | Coins | Item Dropped | Drop Rate | ||
100 (Lv 3) 72 (Lv 2) 72 (Lv 2) 48 (Lv 2) | 126 | 146 | Smoke Bomb | 1/32 |
An Alec Goblin uses the following battle commands with low intelligence:

Its full inventory of items is structured in the following order, with each item's entire stock having to be used up before the next type of item can be available for use:
- 1 Nut: Used only while a combatant on the user's side is not at maximum HP. An item that restores roughly 200 HP to either the user or an ally.
- 1 Oil Drop: An item that deals a Mars-aligned attack with 80 base damage that is spread out across 3 enemies with high damage distribution. As a consumable item, this assumes the Alec Goblin uses this with a Mars elemental power rating of 100 instead of its normal rating, 85.
Baboon Goblin
The Baboon Goblin (バブーンゴブリン) exists as a named but unused variant in the code in The Lost Age, where none of its statistics and abilities are coded beyond weak placeholder abilities. Had it been used, it would have appeared as a variant with dark blue skin. The Baboon Goblin made its first official debut in Dark Dawn, but is renamed Goblord in the English version.
In Golden Sun: Dark Dawn
Gobling
A Gobling (ゴブリン Goblin) is a yellowish-green level 4 variant. It is encountered in the overworld region outside Goma Plateau and on the Goma Highlands Road.
A Gobling is especially likely to be affected by Delusion-inflicting and Sleep-inducing effects. Its statistics are as follows:
Name | HP | PP | Attack | Defense | Agility | Luck |
Gobling | 50 | 0 | 37 | 9 | 10 | 3 |
Elemental Resistances and Levels | Exp | Coins | Item Dropped | Drop Rate | ||
100 (Lv 3) 72 (Lv 2) 72 (Lv 2) 48 (Lv 2) | 13 | 7 | Sleep Bomb | 1/16 |
A Gobling uses the following battle commands with low intelligence:

-- | Uses one of the stocked items in the user's personal inventory. If there are no items remaining in stock, this being called again will instead cause the user to do nothing while the battle text reads, "Gobling's item has already been used!" |
On account of being an enemy with low intelligence that carries stocked items, its chance to use one of its stocked items is effectively a separate command that does not overlap with its chances to carry out other commands; while it is currently unable to use its currently "individually available" item applicably at the moment, it will default to using its remaining commands with each action. Goblin
A Goblin (ウォリーゴブリン Woolly Goblin) is a red level 26 variant with a yellow sword. It is encountered on Talon Peak and the surrounding overworld area.
A Goblin is especially likely to be affected by Delusion-inflicting and Sleep-inducing effects. Its statistics are as follows:
Name | HP | PP | Attack | Defense | Agility | Luck |
Goblin | 283 | 0 | 274 | 106 | 103 | 4 |
Elemental Resistances and Levels | Exp | Coins | Item Dropped | Drop Rate | ||
