Drone Bee enemy line
The Drone Bee, Fighter Bee, and Warrior Bee are enemies randomly fought throughout each game in the Golden Sun series. These monsters, resembling tiny, anthropomorphic bee-men armed with spears that are much larger in Dark Dawn, are palette swaps of each other that have differing levels of power and defense and are fought in different locations in the games.
In Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age
Drone Bee
A Drone Bee (しびれバチ Stun Bee) is a red-bodied variant with green wings that is level 7 in Golden Sun and level 10 in The Lost Age. In Golden Sun, it is first battled in Kolima Forest and subsequently throughout Tret Tree, and later in the wintry overworld region of Angara encompassing Imil and Mercury Lighthouse. In The Lost Age, it is battled only throughout Madra Catacombs.
In Golden Sun, it has much higher Agility than the other monsters in the forest portion of Kolima Forest (relatively speaking), so it probably counts as a monster to watch out for at that early point in the game, but is quickly outperformed from Tret Tree onward. This exact same thing can be said about its appearance in The Lost Age.
A Drone Bee is especially likely to be affected by Sleep-inducing effects. Its statistics are as follows:
Name | HP | PP | Attack | Defense | Agility | Luck |
Drone Bee | 63 | 0 | 68 | 19 | 36 | 2 |
Elemental Resistances and Levels | Exp | Coins | Item Dropped | Drop Rate | ||
100 (Lv 1) 48 (Lv 0) 48 (Lv 0) 7 (Lv 2) | 19 | 28 | Elixir | 1/16 |
A Drone Bee uses these battle commands with low intelligence:
Command | Chance to use |
Elem. Stats used with * |
Description |
---|---|---|---|
Attack | 7/8 (87.5%) |
-- | Standard physical attack. |
Numbing Sting | 1/8 (12.5%) |
105 Power Level 2 |
Enemy ability where the user shoots a purple projectile at a targeted Adept that briefly erupts in a ball of electricity. Deals a Jupiter-aligned standard physical attack with its end result multiplied by 0.8, and it has a chance to inflict Stun. |
Fighter Bee
A Fighter Bee (ボーファイター Bee Fighter) is a light-green-bodied variant with purple wings that is level 14 in Golden Sun and level 21 in The Lost Age. In Golden Sun, it is first battled in Lamakan Desert, and subsequently in Vale Cave, Vault Cave, and the overworld region of Angara surrounding Kalay. In The Lost Age, it is one of the stock monsters battled all throughout the Great Eastern Sea while sailing.
In Golden Sun, while it is one of the least sturdy monsters in Lamakan Desert, it is the fastest monster by a rather wide margin. This, coupled with its ability to add new monsters to a battle to prolong it, can make it rather noticeable in battle. In The Lost Age, it, along with the Calamar, is much slower and easier than the other monsters battled all throughout the Eastern Sea. This monster's ability to add duplicates makes it easy for players to kill them again and again for more experience points, making them rather useful. The stunning ability is usually harmless. This easy way to sum up experience is less practical with the Warrior Bee, because it has an annoying tendency to kill itself and not look for allies.
A Fighter Bee is especially likely to be affected by Sleep-inducing effects. Its statistics are as follows:
Name | HP | PP | Attack | Defense | Agility | Luck |
Fighter Bee | 116 | 0 | 155 | 38 | 74 | 2 |
Elemental Resistances and Levels | Exp | Coins | Item Dropped | Drop Rate | ||
100 (Lv 1) 48 (Lv 0) 48 (Lv 0) 7 (Lv 2) | 67 | 90 | Elixir | 1/32 |
A Fighter Bee uses these battle commands with low intelligence:
Command | Chance to use |
Elem. Stats used with * |
Description |
---|---|---|---|
Attack | 5/8 (62.5%) |
-- | Standard physical attack. |
Ally Search | 2/8 (25%) |
-- | Enemy ability where the battle text displays "Fighter Bee looks for allies!", and there is a chance that a new Fighter Bee individual will join the battle on the enemy side. |
Warrior Bee
A Warrior Bee (とっこうバチ Kamikaze Bee) is a dark-blue-bodied level 20 variant with green wings. In Golden Sun, it is battled in Gondowan Cave and in the overworld region of Gondowan beyond Gondowan Passage.
Though the Warrior Bee's kamikaze maneuver can be quite damaging if it occurs, it occurs rarely, and it removes an enemy from the battle. So if counting that monster skill out of the equation, it is not quite as strong nor even as fast as the Dirty Apes in Gondowan Cave, and is outperformed by several other monsters in the overworld areas where it can be fought.
A Warrior Bee is especially likely to be affected by Sleep-inducing effects. Its statistics are as follows:
Name | HP | PP | Attack | Defense | Agility | Luck |
Warrior Bee | 164 | 0 | 221 | 65 | 102 | 5 |
Elemental Resistances and Levels | Exp | Coins | Item Dropped | Drop Rate | ||

Numbing Sting | 1/8 (12.5%) |
105 Power Level 2 |
Enemy ability where the user shoots a purple projectile at a targeted Adept that briefly erupts in a ball of electricity. Deals a Jupiter-aligned standard physical attack with its end result multiplied by 0.8, and it has a chance to inflict Stun. |
Mortal Blow | 1/8 (12.5%) |
90 Power | Enemy ability where the user leaps forward into a targeted Adept while a red projectile shoots into the target, and in the brief red explosion that occurs the monster disappears and the Adept is struck back quite a fair distance. Deals a Venus-aligned standard physical attack with 35 damage points added to the end result, and the user is removed from the battle in a way that it is not counted as "felled" (you don't get its EXP and coins). |
