Wild Mushroom enemy line

Jump to: navigation, search

The Wild Mushroom and Death Cap are enemies that are randomly fought in Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age. These monsters, resembling small, stalky mushrooms with eyes, are palette swaps of each other that have differing levels of power and defense and are fought in different locations in the games. In Golden Sun, there are two versions of the Wild Mushroom enemy, one seen in prologue sequences and one seen afterwards in the overworld.

In Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age[edit]

Wild Mushroom (Prologue)[edit]

This early version of the Wild Mushroom (ダンシングマッシュ Dancing Mush) is a turquoise level 1 variant. These Wild Mushrooms are battled in the prologue sequence to Golden Sun, first in Vale during its dark and stormy season while the player is Young Isaac and Young Garet, then later in Sol Sanctum as normal Isaac and Garet, when Jenna is in the party.

Since this is one of the earliest enemies the player ever battles, it is an extremely weak monster to deal with, but for what it's worth, a scripted battle in the prologue with two Wild Mushrooms can be noted as technically twice as "tough" as the battles with a single Bat and a single Vermin before that.

This first version of the Wild Mushroom's statistics are as follows:

Name HP PP Attack Defense Agility Luck
Wild Mushroom 18 0 22 5 10 1
Elemental Resistances Turns Exp Coins Item Dropped Drop Rate
Star mercury.gif 100   Star jupiter.gif 72   Star venus.gif 48   Star mars.gif 7 1 1 2 Smoke Bomb.gif Smoke Bomb 1/32

This first version of the Wild Mushroom uses these battle commands:

Command Chance
to use
Elem. Stats
used with *
Description
Attack 6/8
(75%)
-- Standard physical attack.
Contain 2/8
(25%)
-- Enemy ability that causes the battle text to read "The baleful gaze of Wild Mushroom turns upon you!". This has no battle effect.

Wild Mushroom (Overworld)[edit]

This "main version" of the Wild Mushroom (ダンシングマッシュ Dancing Mush) is a turquoise level 3 variant. It is battled in the upper-left region of Angara on the overworld map that encompasses Vale, Vault, and Lunpa.

Seeing as how it is outperformed in all statistics by other monsters fought alongside it, such as the Zombie, it is still a very easy opponent to face even at that point in time and taking its Soothing Star recovery skill into account.

This version of the Wild Mushroom's statistics are as follows:

Name HP PP Attack Defense Agility Luck
Wild Mushroom 34 0 31 5 15 1
Elemental Resistances Turns Exp Coins Item Dropped Drop Rate
Star mercury.gif 100   Star jupiter.gif 72   Star venus.gif 48   Star mars.gif 7 1 3 3 Smoke Bomb.gif Smoke Bomb 1/32

This version of the Wild Mushroom uses these battle commands:

Command Chance

Elem. Stats
used with *
Description
Attack 6/8
(75%)
-- Standard physical attack.
Soothing Star 2/8
(25%)
Star venus.gif 105 Power Enemy ability where an array of yellow orbs emerges around the user and restores roughly 10 HP. Given that this restores such a small amount, the "5% increase" afforded by the Wild Mushroom's Venus elemental power rating is a moot factor.

Death Cap[edit]

A Death Cap (マジカルマッシュ Magical Mush) is a purple variant that is level 15 in Golden Sun and level 22 in The Lost Age. In Golden Sun, Death Caps are battled in the lower-left overworld region of Angara that encompasses Kalay, and subsequently in Vale Cave and Vault Cave. In The Lost Age, it is battled on various overworld areas accessible when the Lemurian Ship is acquired, as well as within Taopo Swamp.

In the first game, everywhere it is fought it has the highest Agility rating among the monsters also fought in its area, but its other statistics are quite a bit lower in comparison. In the second game, however, it is far outperformed even in the area of Agility by the other monsters around it, and is the weakest and easiest of the enemies in those locations.

A Death Cap's statistics are as follows:

Name HP PP Attack Defense Agility Luck
Death Cap 117 0 159 19 90 5
Elemental Resistances Turns Exp Coins Item Dropped Drop Rate
Star mercury.gif 100   Star jupiter.gif 72   Star venus.gif 48   Star mars.gif 7 1 48 56 Sleep Bomb.gif Sleep Bomb 1/32

A Death Cap uses these battle commands:

Command Chance
to use
Elem. Stats
used with *
Description
Attack 5/8
(62.5%)
-- Standard physical attack.
Sleep Star 3/8
(25%)
Star jupiter.gif Level 0 Enemy ability where an array of yellow orbs floats from the user towards multiple Adepts. Up to 3 Adepts may be afflicted with Sleep.
