Erik's Request list

One reason I don't find myself doing as much work on here as I probably could is that I have a hard time deciding what I want to next. You can help here: if there's a specific article or two you want created/worked on, or a page or image that needs to be deleted, list it here and I'll most likely get the jolt of motivation necessary to do it. :) Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 22:03, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Images

I've got some pages that could use pics, too. Some already have pics, but I truly think they should have more (or better ones). We started this on my talk page, but I figured you'd notice it sooner if I put the list on your page. Of course, the main reason I'm asking this of you is because you're the only person I know of who knows how to do this kind of stuff.

Here they are:

I'll be sure to update the list as I find more articles that need pics. Oh, and I have nothing against other people adding to my list (please alphabetize to prevent repeats). The world's hungriest paperweight 17:26, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

I edited your list above so that it only lists articles that have a lot of text to begin with. I can't stuff in a lot of images to pages that look like they've just been made, so I'll put these ones off until they have more text:

Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 22:55, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Heh, why didn't I think of that? Well, they're all location articles right now, so after you finish off the main list maybe you could add at least an overworld pic of these places? I'm okay with that much until they're expanded. The world's hungriest paperweight 00:52, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
I marked a few off the list, but that does NOT mean that they're "done". It just means that they have enough pics until they're expanded. Once they are we'll probably have to un-mark them (and add them to the main list, of course). The world's hungriest paperweight 16:39, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
Right, that was essentially me "softening up" the picture task by giving at least an overworld pic of all of them so I wouldn't have to do that later. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 17:46, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

A Golden Sun joke about an Elephant

The greasebag Mayor of Alhafra kept quarantined in the cave underneath his manor an elephant he illegally imported from the continent of Indra. Of course, he didn’t appreciate the costs of feeding it, but he knew that the citizens of Alhafra would revolt if he didn’t show that he wouldn’t let animals die of starvation. Not that he didn’t find the townspeople of Alhafra revolting enough anyway…

One day, he came up with a scheme to get more money from the Alhafrans’ pockets into his own without them complaining: He saw that his elephant was able to stand on two legs, with the other two not touching the ground. Once in a circus, he even saw an elephant stand in the air on one leg only, with the other three legs off the ground. So, he announced that he would offer a reward of 10,000 coins to anyone who could get the elephant into the air with all four legs above the ground, but anyone who came would have to pay 100 coins to try.

People came from far and near to attempt to win the cash reward, and they tried everything on the elephant from coaxing to hypnotism, but there was never a point in time where all four of the elephant’s legs were simultaneously not touching the ground. The Mayor, in the meantime, was ecstatic with all the dough he was raking in from everyone else’s stupidity.

Then one day a carriage stopped by Alhafra Manor, and out stepped the young Mayor of Madra, representing a city whose boat the Mayor of Alhafra tried to steal from months beforehand. The young mayor asked, “Is it true that you’ll pay me 10,000 coins if I can get all four of your elephant’s legs off the ground for any duration of time?” The obese mayor replied, “Yes, but you’ll have to pay 100 coins to try.” So the young mayor handed him the money, went back to the carriage, and got out a Wooden Stick. Then he went back to the elephant and looked it in the eye. Then he went behind the elephant, swung as hard as he could, and hit the elephant in a certain sensitive area in between the legs. The elephant flew into the air with a shriek.

After the young mayor collected his money, the fat mayor was livid and humiliated. Not only had he been beaten at his own game by his hated rival, but he had only made 8000 coins, so he actually lost 2000 coins from his scheme.

But then, another scheme occurred to him: People know that elephants can move their heads up and down, but the animals never move their heads from side to side like you would expect from a horse. So, he made another announcement: He would offer a reward of 10,000 coins to anyone who could get the elephant to move its head from left to right, but anyone who came would have to pay 100 coins to try. People came from far and near to attempt to win the cash reward, but of course, none were succeeding, and the Mayor amassed up to 7000 coins.

Then one day, a familiar carriage stopped by Alhafra Manor, and out stepped the young mayor from Madra, who asked, “Is it true that you’ll pay me 10,000 coins if I can get your elephant to move its head from left to right without breaking its neck or anything like that?” The fat mayor replied, “Yes, but you’ll have to pay 100 coins to try.” So the young mayor handed him the money, went back to the carriage, and got out his Wooden Stick. Then he went back to the elephant and asked, “Hello there. Remember me?” The elephant anxiously nodded to say yes. “Would you like me to do it again?”

The elephant shook its head to say no.

Templates

Nice job on Template:Summon, especially with the rounded corners (which I have no idea how to make). One thing I did notice is that you don't necessarily have to add in the Template: namespace when adding the template to pages (ie. {{Template:Summon}}). Just {{Summon}} will work fine. And anyway, it's one less template to do! —Hinoa talk 05:57, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Actually, I myself am not all that happy with the way it turned out; it's just a very general idea of the links. I envision it to be much more of a professionally structured template; I don't even know how to center the dang thing on these pages (it's currently on the left end of each page). I was also trying to not get the whole template box that color; it was supposed to be just the summon sequences title was supposed to have that color in its background Look in the edit history of the template and you'll see that I'm hopeful that you'll restructure it into something prettier; once that's done I'll be able to make similar templates for the characters, locations, classes, psynergies, and maybe the monsters. By the way, the tables on all the class series pages look great, but do you think they could look even better if they were all centered too? And thanks for the syntax advice. :) Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 18:22, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
Hmm. I've edited it a bit. It's lost the rounded edges, but I've made it so just the title bar has the background color, it should be centered in the page now, and a few other things. I should also note that it's entirely possible to have the template automatically add the page to Category:Summons, though it's a moot point right now. ^_^
As for centering the stat tables, I'm not entirely sure about a.) whether it'd look that good, and b.) whether with the way they're currently being used if it's even possible (I'm using two different templates per table--take a look at the page source for how). —Hinoa talk
First of all, the previous version never had any rounded edges on my browser; it seems that it occured to your browser only, so most other viewers would have seen square edges anyway. Now, perhaps the stat tables don't actually need any centering business. It's just the templates I plan to make for the other subjects that need to be centered, and they'll likely have that category added to them for the new articles in those categories. I'm going to continue tinkering with the template until a most attractive version can be achieved. Thanks for the effort on your part to improve it, though. Images from Wikipedia & Ultima Equation

There are Public Domain pictures I can add from Wikipedia for the cultural allusions of any topic that has one. They can be larger than the thread themselves, however, so I want your opinion on using them. I want to also show you my multiverse universal equation copied from my Wikipedia user page. It is at User:Eiyuu Kou. Tell me what you think...I made it myself and is very logical. Future chapters would even explain that alternate universes like the one on Golden Sun could even exist! --Eiyuu Kou 21:18, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Public domain images are always fine, I'm sure, but I can never be positive about the technicalities of imaging and licensing, so you should get to know User:Hinoa, a real knowledgable syntax wizard IMO. But if the images are very large, they can always be sized down. As a Golden Sun resource, the cultural allusion images shouldn't be larger than the summon images on each page anyway, and the extra images can still easily serve their purpose even if they are dramatically sized down. As for your heavily involved thoughts on alternate universes and mathematics, well! I don't think that's really something your typical GS fan would read on sight (Rellin seems to be a case in point ^_^). My suggestion is to keep it posted on your user page, or maybe a subpage, as you develop it and await input from the several other users on this site during the process. Lastly, though I'm not high-ranking at all, I emphatically welcome you aboard the site! Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 22:41, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Template:Boss

I finished it. If you want you or anybody else can improve it with my permission or you could make even more boss articles for me to add. --Eiyuu Kou 19:43, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

Not to worry. I seem to work best with monsters because I have all the necessary resources, so I'm just content with filling the monsters and bosses up. I revised the by game instead of element because there seems to be many monsters that apply to more than one element, so having it by game is clearer and has less duplicate links. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 19:57, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

Re: Psynergy

Hey, thanks! I've been trying to find a list for a while now; guess my search is up, huh? --Rellin 21:21, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

A little treat for the disappointed...

On Wikipedia, I tell a funny but true story at my Keepers subpage about how in April 2006 the administrator A Man In Black got onto the bad side of a disgruntled Poke-fan user and vandal, who dumped this hilarious love letter onto Black's talk page. In light of the recent omni-hoax of a GSDS at E3, I thought I'd provide some levity by modifying Emstu10's love letter to address the perpetrator of the hoax, who may have been secretly influenced by Alex for all we know. Enjoy: [1]

Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 19:20, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

This is as real as the ejaculation now spreading down my thigh at this news.
Best news of E3 so far.. [2]

Sorry, but I have to give that guy points on the gross-out front for this one. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 18:36, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

I have only one thing to say about that last comment: O_o The world's hungriest paperweight 18:55, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

And I feel very heartily welcomed indeed

I actually use the same emulator as you for GS, VisualBoy, good stuff. Revoranii 15:44, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Great! I figure PNG file format is the best. I also think it's always a good idea to have the summaries on the image pages being things like what I have on the Excalibur images, sounding technical makes the images seem more "official". Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 20:17, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

Hey, thanks for all your work! I feel the images are just right now (you were right, I did make them too large). You think you could start working on Golden Sun: The Lost Age now? Although its not really horrible, it is still quite an embarrassment since it is the game that holds 50% of the series current content. If not, I would be happy to get some ideas from the Wikipedia article. Thanks. --24.6.103.162 16:41, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Er, wasn't the problem the images being too large at first and you making them too small? :P Anyway... I dunno if I'd want to spend much time on the main pages for the games themselves, because in general readers familiar with GS already would be more interested in the more specific articles and information, which is the stuff I'm used to editing, like equipment lists. Granted, I did write most of the content on Wikipedia's Golden Sun: The Lost Age article, and since Wikipedia and wikia wikis like this share the same license there's nothing illegal about doing a straight copy-paste of that entire article onto here. You might as well take some of the Wikipedia content and put it onto the GS:TLA wikia page here to start off with. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 19:42, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Re: Elemental Guardians

I'd just like to say that I love what you've done with the pages for the elemental guardian superbosses thus far. They're just so full of detail and information. It's very, very impressive. Can't wait to see what you do with the Star Magician page!

--Omegagouki 20:08, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks! *tips hat* And I put up Star Magician now... Looking at the page, you can probably tell I had a dilemma on whether to put the Balls in the Star Magician page or their own Ball monster line article; I ended up listing the Balls as parts of Star Magician's arsenal. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 07:25, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
Nice! Now all of them have awesome, informative, well-written pages. Very good work.
--Omegagouki 06:37, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

User page fuss

Hey thanks for that :), don't apologise, you were doing exactly what needed to be done. And yeah, I knew you guys were the main users, but I wasn't sure whether Dracobolt was also active or not. Thanks for the move, at any rate. Tomorrow i'll have some free time (it's Wednesday arfternoon where I am) i'll have some free time, and I may be able to get some nice images for you, using my shiny emulator (uh, if my save files didn't get wipes when my computer crashed a while back). Either way i'll see what I can do. All the best. ~ Revoran | talk 06:22, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Congratulations!

I see you're a sysop now! So, um, CONGRATULATIONS...or something like that... I don't know whether I should be suprised that it finally happened or that it took this long to happen. Just remember, "with great responsibilities come great power." Wait, that doesn't sound right... The world's hungriest paperweight 02:11, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Talk Page Header

A while back I made a sandbox and threw together a welcome thingy. But I'm getting a little tired of the "Copy and Paste" drudge. Think you could turn it into one of those template things? HP helped me and said I should ask you before he went away. I'm thinking something like the thing underneath this sentence. Check my sandbox to see the welcome message. We hope you enjoy GSU and edit harmoniously. Thank you.

Of course, it wouldn't be hard. I think I'll just change the name to "welcome" though. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 22:15, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Nice job and thank you. Zabbeth 16:06, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

A Few Questions

1) Do you like Metroid?

2) Do you take your own pics for the pics on this site?

3) If yes to both of those, do you want to help with some pics at wikitroid? Just wondering. If not then that's okay, just thought I would ask.Zabbeth 17:35, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Yes to 1 nd 2, but I'm not planning on inserting material into any wiki other than GSU and SmashWiki. The most you should expect me to do is to put images on Metroid-related pages on SmashWiki. ;) Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 17:49, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Okay, thanks anyways.Zabbeth 18:02, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Merging

First of all I'd like to say thanks for the help on the Fansite merger. But while was going through I noticed that there is no Merger Template. You know, the ones that would say "It has been suggested that (this page) be merged with (that page)." I figure it should have Saturos & Menardi pics on it, you kow like the Kraden pic on the stub template. Get it? Merge...Fuse? Anyways what do you think? Could you make one?Zabbeth 20:01, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

HAH! That's really clever. I guess I'll make one... Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 22:02, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Okay, so I made a very visually basic thing here... The syntax:

{{Merge|Kraden|Just because Kraden SHOULD be in Brawl doesn't mean he should have a page on what he would have been like if he were in Brawl.}}

Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 22:22, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Monster Skills & Other Abilities

I'd feel kinda bad if I left you waiting until the next release of the Editor just to see the statistics for Monster Skills, and that. So I dumped all the data, and threw it up on my sandbox. Everything is there from psynergy abilities, to monster skills, summons, unleashes, and even item effects. Such a huge list isn't exactly the ideal way to present the data, I'd suggest using your browsers search function (Most likely Ctrl+F, in case you didn't already know) Atrius 07:17, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

HOLY SHIZNIT - I hope THAT didn't take you a huge amount of time to somehow arrange all that into wiki-format yourself. =O Was that something you auto-generated onto a text document with a programming language? However you did it, that's really incredible. You didn't even need to put it in tables and include icons and all that...
You know, in the same way we have subpages to the monster line pages that are about raw data in table-ized format, your tables in your sandbox might actually be valid to put in subpages for the Psynergy series pages and for the Monster Skills list whenever relevant. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 08:52, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
Looking through the list, I figured out what some stats mean, such as how a "multiplier" attack with a power-rating of 18 means that it takes the monster's attack rating and strikes with 1.8 times the amount of attack power. However, I'm led to believe there might be missing data on the summon spells; don't they all lower the targets' HP by percentages of their max HP? Why does Ulysses seem to be the only one who has that "Lower HP by 12%" effect? If that's a category of data you didn't include in your data dump, there might be other attacks such as Cruel Ruin (which is counted as a "Summon") that have percentage-based effects that might be left out, so be sure to be on the lookout. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 09:33, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
I programmed something to automatically save it all, and format it for me. It didn't really take any time at all. For the issue with summons, I forgot to mention that the attack's type determines the equation used for calculating the damage. The equation for Summons is:
Base Damage = Summon Base + [Target's Max HP * 3 * Djinn Used / 100]
You can find a lot of good information on the battle mechanics, and the rest of those equations in the following guide:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/gbadvance/file/561356/22880
Atrius 14:22, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
Well okay, that equation makes sense for the summons the player lets loose with his Djinn. But does that mean the "Summon"-type Cruel Ruin does none of that extra damage because of the lack of Venus Djinn Doom Dragon has, instead just being a straight 11-range Venus base damage attack with a Venus power rating of 200? And that Outer Space is exactly the same as Cruel Ruin, only Mars-element?
Another unclear thing: What's the story behind three differently-powered copies of attacks like Fire Breath (not counting the fourth "Fire Breath" that's the Psynergy of the Pierrot class of course), each one of the type "Base Damage (Diminishing)"? Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 18:58, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
Hmm... I might have to look into Cruel Ruin, and Outer Space. That would seem to be the case, but there could be data somewhere else that says otherwise. It'd be interesting to see if the game behaves as though the enemies are using Djinn for it.
I believe different enemies use different versions of Fire Breath, and those other duplicated abilities depending on how powerful they're supposed to be. The only way to really check is to use the editor to see exactly which ability index they're using, it would match the number at the top left of the ability tables on my sandbox. As for "(Diminishing)" that has to do with how much damage enemies toward the outer range of the attack are dealt, there's information about that in the guide I linked to in my last reply. Atrius 20:14, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
I now know it as a fact that the different copies of the same Breath attacks are differently powered versions for different enemies, such as the weak Sonic Wave being for Bats and the stronger Sonic Wave being for Ant Lions. Now, I found the FAQ's info about diminishing ratios, and now I see that the Sonic Wave attacks themselves are among the (Diminishing)-classified attacks, even though they only have ranges of 1. Apparently that means that it makes no difference if a 1-range Base Damage attack has the (Diminishing) part or not, since it's always 100% damage at its core. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 20:53, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
Just noticed what you did with the revamp to the Gressil monster line. NICE. So is that going to be the new standard for monster lines? RoleOfDATS 09:33, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
Only the Gressil monster line? :P By this point I've done the 27 monster lines that come before it alphabetically, as well as Hobgoblin and Mini-Goblin to make a total of 30 down. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 17:53, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
It was the most recent one at the time, and real life has been bothering me quite a bit lately. I wish it'd just go away... Now if only we had someone like you at the Rockman Wiki... This place puts it to shame, big time. ^-^ RoleOfDATS 03:29, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

If I edit the Main-Page it might blow up.

I learned how to make polls! Now I want to put one on the Main-Page. But there is a HUGE chance I will screw everything up. You mind posting it for me? It's not hard when you get the jist of it. I figure we could do this once a month or something. Just hit the Edit button and copy and paste like I do. Here it is.

<poll> Question Answer 1 Answer 2 And so on </poll>

The question will be, "Who would win in a fight?" The answers would be 1.Issac 2.Felix or 3. Eoleo rockin' the Wheat Sword. Well you could probably come up with something better then that, but I always like the polls with two or three real answers and one rediculous answer. What do you think?Zabbeth 02:01, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

That's a really interesting concept, especially since the syntax is so simple. It might even work, too. The thing I'm iffy about is that the Main Page, as it is, looks and feels perfectly functional as four elemental "boxes", and I'm not sure if that should be put on the main page to potentially clutter it up. (BTW I voted on your Sandbox poll earlier in the day ;) ) Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 02:22, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

I see your point. A poll would kind of jumble it up a bit. I'll tell you what I'm going to do then. Starting in February I'm going to make a Poll of the Month page, don't worry it's not going to an actual page though, probably more of another sandbox like page. Anyways, when it's complete maybe you could put something in the "News" srection of the mainpage. Something like, "Come vote on our new poll page", or something like that. Sound good?Zabbeth 14:21, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I'll predict that where it should be put in is in Main Page/Polls, a subpage of the Main Page. To prevent vandals from screwing the syntax up on purpose instead of just voting, that page should be Protected right away. Then each time the poll is replaced, the old poll should be put in Main Page/Polls/Poll Archive or something like that. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 18:36, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Sounds good.Zabbeth 13:47, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

Er, but if there'd be a discussion on the page with the poll on it, then protecting it wouldn't work because no one could add to the discussion. We'll just have to assume vandals won't go out of their way to mess the page up while it's unprotected... Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 18:51, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
Okay, I put your poll on the template "Poll Jan 09" and linked it to the poll page so that while the poll is protected from vandalism, anyone can edit the discussion. And next month you can make Template:Poll Feb 09 and put it on the main poll page, then I'd protect the febuary poll template. Also, I linked it from the News bar on the main page. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 19:10, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

u rock and i hope there is a gs3 (proby on ds)--Ajax752 12:29, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for that, but I really should warn you about some of the edits you've made so far. Any administrator would consider your edit to User:Kyarorain actual vandalism, since that's someone else's userpage you're changing without their consent. That, along with the rather nonconstructive edit you made to the main page (We already have the Recent Full Articles box on the page for newly created full articles), would have gotten you an official warning from an admin if this were any other wiki. And as for your Secret Room page, which I had to delete, it's possible that you weren't aware that each of the six Debug Rooms are going to have their own pages written eventually, and that you probably weren't aware that writing "I think so but where is it and how do you get to it?" does not count as encyclopedia-style content that's the only type of content allowed on the pages... But still, that's not a good sign.
If you want to be a valued editor here, you should really look at how all of the pages on this wiki are written, such as how they are worded and how much they're proofread, as well as how they're only full of reliable info. And then, do your best to try to make edits in the same style as those pages, putting in practical information where practical information is missing. If that sounds hard and time-consuming, well it pretty much is; it takes editors like me and the others quite a focused effort to produce paragraphs of content like what's on the character and monster pages, so maybe that sort of optimum editing's not for you. Maybe you're only interested in discussing GS like you're on a forum; in that case, the Forums here are a great place to go, but you should make sure that the Forums and each page's talk page are the only places on the wiki that you make forum-style edits on, instead of the actual articles that deserve encyclopedia-style edits. I have one important question:

Was Pokemon Platinum version selled there? If you are in US, answer this.

Isaac Luis Zuko 08:33, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, Pokemon Platinum was sold in the U.S. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 16:35, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

I've heared som rumors that Pokemon Platinum selled in US since March 21, 2009. Do you have Pokemon Platinum already? Isaac Luis Zuko 10:44, September 22, 2009 (UTC)

Um, yes I do. Of course Pokemon Platinum was sold everywhere in the U.S. starting with late March. Americans everywhere have it!
Now, about the characters' battle sprites you seem to be interested in putting on the wiki: I think it's a good idea if you put these sprite tables in their own sub-pages of the main character pages, to avoid cluttering up the main pages. I'll move the Isaac sprite table to its sub-page to show you what I mean.
It would also be a very big help if everytime you upload a sprite, you copy and paste this code into the big Summary box:
A sprite downloaded from [http://www.goldensun-syndicate.net/sprites/ Golden Sun Syndicate Sprites].

         ==Licensing==
         {{Fairuse}}

That helps with making sure we don't get copyright problems. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 18:16, September 22, 2009 (UTC)

I've my problem in my future. Can I be your friend? I also appreciate your ways.Luis Felix Rileys 09:36, October 6, 2009 (UTC)
Do you have any idea that who is the new character in GSDS (I describe the another character in the promotional art)?
Well, thanks, and I would like it a lot if you copy and paste the code I showed you above into the big summary box every time you upload a sprite from now on. And no, I don't have any idea because I'd rather find out officially later. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 17:09, October 6, 2009 (UTC)
I expired my user:Isaac Luis Zuko. I'll transfer my ideas in my Isaac Luis Zuko to my new user:Luis the Dragon Alchemist. If oyu wanted to talk to me, please go to my new user talk.Luis the Dragon Alchemist 09:00, October 7, 2009 (UTC)

Drop image and page-writing requests here

Just putting this up so that things will be cleaner a bit. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 05:34, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

I recently created the Battle and Elemental Power pages, which could use some images and/or expansion. I was also wondering if maybe some related articles could be merged into Battle?

DJ Smedes 19:09, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Hmm, I'm not sure if those particular three pages can get expanded further, and if Flee and Defend even have valid screenshots to put in there. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 19:15, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
I think you misunderstood me; I wanted the screenshots for Elemental Power (which probably doesn't have any valid ones, except perhaps an Adept "powering up" after a summon?) and Battle. Then I suggested merging those three pages into Battle. DJ Smedes 19:34, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
Oh. Well, I suppose Elemental Power could have an image from the various party status screens. I don't know whether it's valid to merge those three pages into Battle though, in spite of me saying that they are probably difficult to expand further. There'll have to be someone else's opinion to add before that decision can be made. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 19:41, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
Sounds logical. For now I'll just content myself by improving those three pages as much as I can. DJ Smedes 19:58, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Luis Felix and you, in an appreciation

Hi, I'm Luis Felix. I seemed that you are great in Golden Sun. Not only you the expert but also me. I only wanted to said was: "Good Luck"". Have a nice day!
You are invited to one of my pages
Luis Felix 04:53, November 8, 2009 (UTC)

Ah, thanks! Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 04:55, November 8, 2009 (UTC)

I'm still working in this wiki. Don't worry I'm cooperating. Do you need anything to me?

Luis Felix 04:58, November 8, 2009 (UTC)

Eh, don't worry. I'd tell you on your talk page if there is. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 05:02, November 8, 2009 (UTC)

Do you believe that I have two Sol Blades in my transfer password.

Luis Felix 05:37, November 8, 2009 (UTC)

Sure, it's apparently a hacked password. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 05:42, November 8, 2009 (UTC)

ADS: I'm creating also Golden Sun Saga in a book. I will release this in 2015. Luis Felix 05:55, November 8, 2009 (UTC)

Does my password was helpful?Luis Felix 07:29, November 8, 2009 (UTC)

In the new protagonist in Golden Sun DS was Isaac or his offspring and Garet or his offspring? I don't think so that Isaac and Garet have children also who are Isaac and Garet's wife?Luis Felix 07:44, November 8, 2009 (UTC)

Wait for the game to come out so that those questions could be answered. But sorry, I didn't put in the full password in my game to check how helpful it was. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 07:57, November 8, 2009 (UTC)

Do you believe that you can go to Vale in the Lost Age?

I have new suggestions for the Template:CharacterInfobox. Could you tell me what's the color of the other elements?Luis Felix 11:17, March 4, 2010 (UTC)
I'm impressed, that actually looks very good. Okay then, here are the color ideas I have, which come from this Wikipedia page:
Mercury (Water) Element:
Dark blue: 0000FF
Medium blue: 00BFFF
Light blue: B0E0E6
Venus (Earth) Element:
Dark orange: FF4500
Medium orange: FF8C00
Light orange: F0E68C
Jupiter (Wind) Element:
Dark purple: 9400D3
Medium purple: 9966CC
Light purple: DDA0DD
Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 18:55, March 4, 2010 (UTC)
Okay, so I did all the rest of the colors myself and put them into the infoboxes for the Adept pages. Some of the colors I listed above were too dark, so I had to change them. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 19:27, March 4, 2010 (UTC)
So, how about the non adepts? Luis Felix 05:38, March 6, 2010 (UTC)
Well, I made a gray version and put it on Kraden and Babi because they're not Adepts, so you can put in gray infoboxes for all the other non adepts. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 06:13, March 6, 2010 (UTC)

I have a new suggestion for the psynergy list of the bosses in the games. Luis Felix | Appreciate Luis | Sandbox]] 09:39, March 26, 2010 (UTC)
Well, I think that would actually be too many images to have in every enemy article, as well as too much work for people to make all those images, so the preview column should be removed. Other than that, putting enemy commands in a table is a good idea. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 00:14, March 28, 2010 (UTC)

I have problems about migrating Pokemon Emerald to Pokemon Platinum. I've learned that my Emerald was fake. Do you know what is the real one? Luis Felix | Appreciate Luis | Sandbox]] 05:03, April 7, 2010 (UTC)
No, I wouldn't know about GBA games being fake and not being compatible with the DS game. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 05:29, April 7, 2010 (UTC)
If you know about authentic and counterfeit games, do you know where I can buy the authentic ones? Does in your country have authentic games? Luis Felix | Appreciate Luis | Sandbox]] 05:19, April 19, 2010 (UTC)
Well, in the U.S., any game you can buy from an official site like Amazon.com would have to be authentic. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 06:45, April 19, 2010 (UTC)

I included relatives at the Character Infobox. Is it all right? Well, I have one more thing. Isaac's son is Matthew, right? Then, who's Isaac's wife? Luis Felix Raileys 11:25, June 22, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, that's good, all the other wikis do the same with their character infoboxes. Right now, Matthew is confirmed by videos to be Isaac's son, but Tyrell and Karis' parents are not yet confirmed. But since we don't know who Isaac's wife is, we shouldn't list any woman as his wife in the infobox. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 16:53, June 22, 2010 (UTC)

New Template...Again

I whipped up a bare bones version of a new template on my sandbox. But I'll let you do the the technical stuff. To be honest I'm no good at the whole template thing. Anyways I was thinking addpic, or something like that. What do you think.Zabbeth 18:34, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

Never mind, I finally figured out how to make templates by myself. But you can always make it better if you think it needs it..Zabbeth 18:42, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

So, how does Maha represent a need for more visual representation? =P Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 19:41, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

What do you got against Maha? Honestly I don't know why I chose him, for some reason though he seemed like a perfect fit.Zabbeth 21:04, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

If you mark a page with the stub template it automaticaly adds that page to the stub category. How would I go about having all the pages marked with the addpic template to go into it's own category? Think you could do that?Zabbeth 18:20, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

Done. However, even though the template causes each page the addpic template is currently on to have the Articles in need of images category displayed at the bottom, and all pages you would add the addpic template to from here on out will register in the category's page as part of the category, all pages that have had the template put on it before I added the syntax to the template currently aren't properly registered in the category page. You'll have to go to each page you added the addpic template to and make a minor edit of any sort to that page, like what I did with Lemuria, so the wiki recognizes to put the page into the category. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 19:17, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
Nevermind, it appears the Wiki automatically takes care of that sort of thing after a while. Now all the pages you put the addpic category on are properly displaying in the picture category. =P Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 00:01, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

These Damn Robots Are Stealing My Thunder!

Dude what's this? They're popping up on all the wikis and what's even worse is that they are creating user pages for random contributers. Now I have no problem with people other than me welcoming new people, in fact I'm a little proud that other users like to welcome other users, but when some computer comes in and starts editing things it's a little annoying. And seeing as how your the only admin here I was wondering if there was any way you could shut it down. It's kind of wierd to see some crazy welcome message on an IP address "user page". If you can't get rid of it do you at least know of anyway to make it use our own welcome template?Zabbeth 17:32, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Eh, the bots auto-welcoming IP addresses that happen to make good edits looks like one of the core aspects of any wiki that make it a "good community", and frankly I think it's great that there's a bot that does that for us for non-vandal IPs. Other than the fact the bot makes it sound like I'm the one welcoming each IP (>_>), I don't feel it's crazy, since good IP-editors are auto-welcomed on Wikipedia all the time.
Now, I look at MediaWiki:Welcome-message-anon (which actually shows code for me because of my sysop status) and seem able to edit it (though it tells me I'd be "creating" it if I saved any edits), but I'm cautious about doing anything with that code because it says for me at the top "Warning: You are editing a page which is used to provide interface text for the software." So, I'd rather leave that as it is, since it doesn't look like it has an impact on your hobby of manually welcoming new registered users... :/ Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 18:33, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
ADDENDUM: Since my last comment here, I've noticed that the Wikia bot is welcoming IPs that are making obvious vandalisms, and is also indeed welcoming the registered users you like to. So, maybe I should look into adjusting that bot... It'd be my first time handling such a thing. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 04:31, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

Requesting Rollback Rights.

I have been going over alot of the rules for a while now and in the past year I have learned alot about wikis. Users with Rollback Rights can revert vandalism with a single click, as you obviously know. I have worked my way up the ranks quite a bit and even my editing style has improved. I realize Rollback Rights don't really give me much power but it does show I have alot of editing skills under my belt. My contributions speak for them selves and I am almost always on this site so I can constantly patrol this site, well I'm not on here all the time. I do have a life, but I honestly have more free time then I know what to do with. Now we don't have alot of people who come to this site to soley vandalize pages but it does happen. So yeah, sorry for rambling on and on but I thought I would ask. Give it some thought please.Zabbeth 22:46, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

I'd give you that right, but I don't think I have any buttons for that as a mere sysop. I think it's supposed to be a bureaucrat like Dracobolt that should give you that. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 23:07, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Yeh, turns out your right. [3]. I'll go ask Draco, wait, does Draco even visit here anymore?Zabbeth 15:30, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Well, you could just go to the Temple of Kraden and PM Draco about it. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 16:54, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
Erik, if you think Zabbeth merits that right, then I'll figure out how to give it to him and do so. ^_^ 165.190.89.154 17:55, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
Also, it would be real nice if I didn't keep getting automatically logged out. >_> That was me up there, just FYI. Dracobolt 17:56, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
I think he easily merits the right for the rollback button because that by itself is hardly anywhere near as big as conferring the rights of actual sysopship, where you also get deletion and protection powers. The rollback button is merely a way of doing what everyone does on any wiki - reverting to previous edits - a little quicker, and Zabbeth certainly won't abuse that. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 18:45, 22 March 2009 (UTC) EDIT: Oh great, I had to look at the RecentChanges after making this post. lol Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 18:47, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

A Little Improvement

You know, it's kind of funny. Of all the time I have been on this site, today was the first day I looked at the pages for Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age. They seem a little bland. So I went to wikipedia and tried to copy and paste the info-box. Turns out that it doesn't work that way. For a wiki about Golden Sun the articles for the games themselves aren't up to par with the rest of the site. Basically I was wondering if you could whip up one of them VG info-box things for the site. What do you think?Zabbeth 18:33, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

First time tutorial?

I'm new to editing any kind of wiki, so I was wondering if there is a convenient tutorial on basic features, like adding a little thing on the end to state which user said what, and when... you know, it looks like this: "-- Erik the Appreciator (Talk) 03:13, 5 April 2009" --DJ Smedes

i wonder should golden sun universe have a new user contact forum it would be one page were new players can interdouce themselves or does it have one if it does there should be a link to it Brandonallison 20:52, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

I don't know if GSU has one of those, but you could just start a forum topic yourself about that if you want, so that we can see what that would be like. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 21:19, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

Deleting a useless page

I seem to have created the "Elemental power" page. I was rather irked that I couldn't figure out how to rename it and properly capitalize the P, so I made it a redirect page and created the "Elemental Power" page. If you would delete the "Elemental power" one, I could go back to my sane existence :) 76.238.166.60 23:46, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

I just made an edit to remove your notice about wanting an admin to delete that; In actuality, redirects that exist just for the sake of leading people to properly capitalized pages do exist on wikis. In fact, if after having made the page "Elemental power" and used the move feature at the top of the article to rename the page to "Elemental Power" (that's how you'd typically do the stuff you wanted to do there), the wiki software would automatically convert the remaining "Elemental power" namespace into a redirect into "Elemental Power".
There's no need to worry much about the "possibility" of aspects of your good-faith edits being "wrong" or making "mistakes", because on a wiki like this, one's encouraged to edit "boldly". And if you're editing in good faith, other editors would be all too glad to clean up any mistakes you might make and point them out to you, in the interest of improving your future editing. =) Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 23:56, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

It all makes sense now; but one thing that still bugs me is that I couldn't find the "move" button. I can see it for this page, but it wasn't there when I made that one... mysterious. DJ Smedes 18:58, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Character ages in infoboxes?

Erik-kun, hey, Erik-kun! I was looking for the characters' ages here to put in the last word in a discussion, but to my surprise there was no spot for that information in the character infoboxes. How would that slot be added into the template? I'd do it myself if I knew I wouldn't screw it up. ^^; Dracobolt 03:56, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

I think when I first worked on the character infoboxes I omitted the age slot because, as far as I know, there's the occasional disagreement over exactly how old each character is as the two GS games progress from beginning to end (and I don't have the first game's manual either). But an age cell should have had its syntax included in the first place, I'll agree, since if a character's age is unknown the cell won't be visible if no info is filled in for it. Anyway, I added the syntax (the entirety of the differences you can see for yourself here) and tested it on the Isaac page. Now all the characters can have their ages filled out for them in their infoboxes. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 05:40, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

Where is Golden Sun 3

I saw you deleted that page. I didn't mark it for deletion because I knew you would see it. But I am a little confused about one thing though. It gave me the choice to Rollback. If I Rollback a newly created page does it delete that page? I didn't click because I didn't want to screw something up.Zabbeth 18:57, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

That's interesting. It's possible that you having been granted rollback rights by an admin allows you to delete single-edit junk pages. I'm sure the software wouldn't provide that option if it would screw something up... Might as well try that out the next time. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 20:16, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

I just made User:Zabbeth/Other and it's not giving me the Rollback ability now for some reason. Though this could just be because it's an offshoot of a User page. I guess I'll just wait for somebody else to create an un-needed article. Either way I was wondering if you could get rid of it for me. I don't have any use for it.Zabbeth 18:37, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Rollback Failed I went to my User Contribs where it gave me the option to Rollback and it states that it cannot be Rollbacked due to the page only having one edit. Meaning, as I kind of knew, only Admins can officially delete pages. Rollback cannot.Zabbeth 18:42, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Alright then... Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 00:23, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
