Alhafran Cave

Using the Large Bread from Alhafra's sailing ship lets you explore this cave early and get the valuable Ixion Mail.

The Alhafran Cave is a small, optional area located underneath the town of Alhafra. The main entrance is located just underneath the mayor's manor at the northwest part of the village and is initially guarded by a male NPC.

Half of the treasure chests in this cave can be reached right after defeating Briggs at the sailing ship fairly early in the game. If you had acquired the Tremor Psynergy from Madra Catacombs, you can cast it at a crate in the storeroom in the ship to get the Large Bread to drop, which you can then give to the starving child near the sandy eastern edge of the town's main screen. Since the man guarding the entrance to the cave is the boy's father, he will allow you to explore it. However, only a portion of the overall area can actually be explored at this stage, and the chests that can presently be reached with Lash include 123 Coins, a Lucky Medal, and the Ixion Mail, which is fittingly strong at this stage in the game.

The other chests in Alhafran Cave cannot be reached until much later in the game, when the captive Briggs makes use of this cave to escape from his jail and make off with the fixed-up sailing ship. For the rest of the game, Alhafran Cave can be freely entered, allowing the aforementioned three chests to be opened even if you had skipped giving the bread to the child. The earth pillar that previously blocked off the rest of the cave will have been moved off to the side, giving you access to the other three chests: 777 Coins, a Potion, and a Psy Crystal. Furthermore, you can now enter the jail from the inside by taking the cave's south exit, where you can find a hidden Power Bread in the barrel.

Though the following item in Alhafra's jail is not technically a treasure contained in the cave itself, going through the cave is the only way the locked-off jail cell can be entered from the inside:
