Aqua Squire class series

From Golden Sun Universe

The Aqua Squire class series is the default class series available to the Mercury Adept Amiti. He is a member of this class series if he either has only Mercury Djinn set to him or no Djinn set whatsoever.

This class series, when at its highest stage of Aqua Master, has high HP, above average luck, average Attack, Defense, and Agility, and a very low PP rating for a mage. Noteworthy Psynergies from an endgame perspective include Diamond Berg, Pure Ply, Cure Poison, Break, Avoid, and its heaviest area-of-effect Psynergy, Megacool. Average stats from an endgame perspective are 142% (146% if one doesn't factor in Luck).

As of Dark Dawn, an Adept in this class series is especially likely to be affected by HP-siphoning effects.

Analysis

This mono-elemental class series, unique to Amiti, is nearly identical to Piers's Mariner class series. The only notable change is that because Frost is unavailable to players in Dark Dawn (Cold Snap replaces it), the playable Mercury Adepts get Douse instead. Statistically, there is no difference between the Aqua Squire and Mariner classes, though the classes play out differently since Amiti is a mage, while Piers is a warrior.

The main strengths of the class lie in the high HP stat. Despite Amiti only having access to mage-style equipment, the Attack and Defense are still decent compared to Karis, Himi, and Rief; combined with the excellent HP, he is more durable than the other three. The decent Attack, combined with the Psynergy lineup, grant Amiti more versatility than most mage-styled Adepts. Megacool grants Amiti a powerful ranged Psynergy that is excellent against enemies with Mercury weaknesses. The addition of Diamond Dust and Diamond Berg give Amiti a reliable offensive option, especially considering that they are not limited by Elemental Power and Resistance like standard Psynergy. He can also function as a healer when needed, as he has access to Ply, Restore, and Cure Poison.

The main drawbacks to the class lie in the lower PP and Agility. The PP pool is the smallest of all the mage-styled classes, meaning that the more expensive Psynergies are limited in use. Amiti can get more mileage out of them by equipping the Heirloom Ring and the Triton's Ward. If both are set to him, along with 9 Mercury Djinn, his Mercury Power would be doubled, greatly increasing the power of his attacks. The Agility stat means Amiti, like Piers, is one of the slower characters, though in Amiti's case, this can be remedied by equipping a Zol Ring. Finally, while the Aqua Squire does have healing capabilities, the Aqua Squire is outclassed in this regard by the Water Seer class series, which boasts the same healing Psynergies, as well as the useful Wish and a larger PP pool to use them.
