In Golden Sun, the Silver Blade is added to the artifact listings of weapon vendors once the artifacts menu of the weapon vendor in Lalivero is opened for the first time, and it can be equipped by Isaac and Garet. Its Unleash effect, Aqua Sock (アクアストライク, Akua sutoraiku?, lit. Aqua Strike), carries the basic activation probability of 35%, adds 42 points of damage to the result, and aligns the damage overall with the Mercury element. Unlike most weapon Unleashes, this does not come with a secondary effect. Aqua Sock visually resembles a pillar of water shooting up from the ground at the position of the target at the same time the attacker lands a physical attack.

The Silver Blade suffices as a solid stopgap to purchase for Isaac or Garet on the party's way to the final dungeons in the game, which will eventually lead to the 135-Attack Gaia Blade being easily discovered in Venus Lighthouse. However, the Aqua Sock Unleash is rather plain without a side effect chance, meaning that while its 108 base Attack makes it better overall than the 99-Attack Shamshir from Lunpa, the Mercury alignment of its Unleash is its only distinguishing factor. While the final bosses at Venus Lighthouse do not resist Mercury attacks as well as other elements, the best weapons for your two warriors to use against it are the Gaia Blade and a Cursed weapon like Wicked Mace (used in conjunction with the Cleric's Ring).

Being aligned with Mercury means that Isaac would have to enter the Swordsman class series to give it a power boost, though fortunately its Guardian class stage features the same attack modifier as the Lord stage of Isaac's default Squire class series. Even more fortunately for Garet, being in the equivalent Luminier class of his own version of the Swordsman class series gives him both a higher Attack modifier compared to his own Page class series and some make-up Mercury Power, both of which will improve his performance with the Silver Blade and its occasional Aqua Socks.

It should be noted that the Righteous Mace also sold at Lalivero is overall superior despite being cheaper. It has 112 Attack, causes 3 HP to be regenerated at the end of each turn, and inflicts Delusion with its Unleash (which is Jupiter-aligned). It can also be wielded by Mia.

In Golden Sun: The Lost Age, the Silver Blade has virtually no applicable function for Felix and Piers, the two warriors among your persistent four-Adept party for most of the game. It is sold at the general vendor in Shaman Village, which only opens once the Trial Road sequence is completed successfully. This comes at a point in the game when you would have likely gotten weapon artifacts like the 145-Attack Hestia Blade by tossing Lucky Medals into Lemuria Spring, and weapons between now and the end of the game become even stronger overall. One decisive upgrade to this weapon is a 160-Attack Mythril Blade, which is one of the more common outcomes of bringing a Mythril Silver to the Blacksmith in Yallam.

• Sold in Champa Camp (DD)

In Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, the Silver Blade is sold in the general vendor at Champa Camp, one of several settlements that become available all at once when you become capable of sailing the Eastern Sea. Since this is the start of the last third of the game, you will most likely be equipped with the 114-Attack Giant Axe, and many weapons that can easily be acquired during this arc will feature significantly higher Attack ratings than that. One minor point in favor of the Silver Blade is that its 108 Attack is not too far behind the Giant Axe and could, in theory, be purchased to give a slight Attack boost to your other Long Sword-wielding Adept (of which there are only two in the game, Matthew and Tyrell) when just starting out. This is not a recommended financial expenditure given what you can gain for free by bringing Forgeable materials to the Blacksmith in Champa nearby.

Part of the problem with the Silver Blade as a "catch-up weapon" is that its two additional Unleashes are not impressive, either, and the game, like with all weapons, randomly picks which Unleash effect to apply whenever the proc chance is passed. It features two "generic Unleashes" that are unlocked prior to Aqua Sock: Critical Move (クリティカル, Critical?), which only deals an attack that is 40% more damaging and has a 35% chance to lower the target's HP to 1 if its survives, and Spin Strike (かいてんぎり, Kaitengiri?, lit. Spin Slash), a Jupiter-aligned attack that does not offer a damage bonus but hits each adjacent enemy with 80% of the overall force.

It is worth noting that strong late-game Unleashes aligned to Mercury are rare, and weapons with them that can be equipped by warrior Adepts are rarer still; the only stronger weapon with a Mercury Unleash that Matthew and Tyrell (as well as Eoleo) can wield is the Masamune, which is easily acquired in Yamata Ruins late in the Eastern Sea arc. This does not necessarily mean the Silver Blade is a solid source of physical Mercury attacks, especially since only one of its three random Unleashes is Mercury-aligned.
