The Elven Shirt (エルブンクロース, Elven Clothes?) is a Clothing-class item, found in Golden Sun and Golden Sun: Dark Dawn.
In Golden Sun
In Golden Sun, it is found in Mogall Forest. In order to find it, you must explore a bit by checking every stump in each screen, as some screens have two apes that reveal paths, one of which usually leads to an item. The Elven Shirt is unique because it is one of three artifacts that multiply the Adept's speed; however, unlike the Turtle Boots and the Safety Boots, the Elven Shirt increases the Adept's agility. Because of this, the artifact has the potential to have the highest increase of agility out of any artifact. In fact, since it multiplies agility, the item effectively increases in value as the game progresses. Getting more defense from newer items, such as those available in Kalay, or keeping more Agility at the cost of defense is just a matter of personal preference.
In Golden Sun: Dark Dawn
In Dark Dawn, it is found in a treasure chest in the Konpa Ruins. The Elven Shirt gives the strongest Defense boost of any body-armor available at the time. Its high defense bonus ensures that it will remain in the party for a long time, and as a clothing-class item, it can be easily passed on to every member of the party. Karis will benefit from the Defensive boost due to her naturally lower Defense. On the other hand, the Elven Shirt's ability to increase Agility makes it a useful piece of equipment for Rief and Tyrell, who both possess naturally lower agility.
It is worth noting that in Dark Dawn, the Elven Shirt's multiplicative factor is no longer unique. Two pieces of equipment, the Zol Ring and the Hover Greave, multiply agility by 1.8 and 1.5 respectively. Both pieces of equipment are available to be forged from Quality Zol; the player can also acquire a free Zol Ring in Passaj once the vendor shops open. Thus, the player can more easily replace the Elven Shirt for more defensive gear as the Shirt becomes outclassed.
Trivia
- Aside from this shirt and the Elven Rapier, Elves do not appear in the Golden Sun series in any way.
