Clotho's Distaff

A Clotho's Distaff is an Ankh-class weapon that appears in Golden Sun: The Lost Age and Golden Sun: Dark Dawn. In The Lost Age, multiple copies can be randomly dropped by slain Minos Warriors in Mars Lighthouse at a base 1/64 chance, which becomes four times as likely if it is felled by the attack effect of an unleashed Jupiter Djinni like Blitz. In Dark Dawn, only one can be found late in the optional Lost Ship dungeon, in an area that opens up once Himi has been recruited and her Search Psynergy can be used; as it is an Ankh, only Himi and Rief can equip it. In both games, it is presented as an "endgame-tier" ankh on the level of the similarly themed Atropos' Rod and Lachesis' Rule. In practice, however, the Lost Age version of Clotho's Distaff's claim to that distinction is dubious because it lacks its own Unleash effect and instead allows the user to cast Pure Ply for free. The Dark Dawn version is heavily improved by giving it three Unleashes it randomly chooses between when the equipped Adept happens to Unleash with it; while one of them is the generic Berserk Rush attack, the other two respectively attempt to siphon HP and PP based on the damage dealt. Both Life Leech and Psynergy Leech (which occur only on Angelic Ankh and Psynergy Rod otherwise) are Mercury-aligned attacks, making the weapon a good fit for Rief.

About Us

We are on a perpetual quest to create and maintain a comprehensive reference and database for Nintendo and Camelot Software Planning's series of Japanese role-playing games, Golden Sun. If you're feeling adventurous, you are invited to join our intrepid party of Adepts and help us craft the most complete tome of knowledge for the Golden Sun series on the Internet.

Note that this site contains SPOILERS. While templates are in place in various articles to indicate to readers that there is storyline material that players yet to complete the games may not yet know and may not yet want to know, if you haven't finished the currently-released games, then you read at your own risk.

If you would like to be involved in revitalizing the wiki, you can join the Golden Sun United Nations Discord server, where we will be coordinating things.
