Pilgrim (Jupiter) class series

From Golden Sun Universe
(Redirected from Pilgrim (Jupiter))

The Pilgrim (Jupiter) class series is a dual-elemental class series available to the Jupiter Adepts, and to a lesser extent, the Mars Adepts. The Jupiter Adepts become this class series if they have Mars Djinn set to them, and the Mars Adepts become this class series when they have a certain number of Jupiter Djinn set to them.

This class series can be easily confused with the Pilgrim (Mercury) class series, as the Pilgrim, Wanderer, Ascetic and Guru classes appear in both series, and the statistical influence is the same between the classes.

The class series, when at its highest stage of Guru and compared to the other series at their highest respective stages, has very good Agility, stronger Defense, good PP, and average HP and Attack - the Guru of the Pilgrim (Mercury) class series is the same in all of these areas. Both series' luck ratings are high. Noteworthy Psynergy from an endgame perspective includes Ward/Resist (contrast with the Mercury variation's Pure Wish, Cure Poison, and Break), and the heaviest area-of-effect Psynergy it has is Spark Plasma (contrast with the Mercury variation's Freeze Prism) and Pyroclasm.

Confusion can arise as to what element this series is exactly based on, because of how this Pilgrim (Jupiter) class series includes a class named "Fire Monk" while the Pilgrim (Mercury) class series includes an equivalent class named "Water Monk". This is essentially an awkward naming example provided by Camelot because this class series is what results when Mars Djinn are set onto a Jupiter Adept, while the Mercury version of this series results when Mars Djinn are set onto a Mercury Adept. Average stats from an endgame perspective are 153% (160% if you don't factor in Luck).

In all games, an Adept in this class series is especially likely to be affected by Delusion-inflicting effects.

Analysis

The Pilgrim classes (both versions) are one of the more solid Dual-Elemental classes available. The Wind version, while lacking the Wish of its water cousin, has instead the Ward series and the Plasma series instead of the Prism series. The Slash series offers a good intermediate series while waiting for more potent versions of Volcano and Plasma to come along, unlike the Hermit, which has to sweat it out between long breaks of new Psynergy.

The Wind version unfortunately has only one element of offensive psynergy until four Mars Djinn are obtained. While this poses little issue in The Lost Age and Dark Dawn due to the faster Djinn curve, it is a significant drawback in the original game, as it only gains offensive Mars abilities fairly late in the game after most of the bosses weak to the element have already been defeated.

Statistically, the class is sound as well, although several other classes boast better PP numbers.

Should you enjoy the Pilgrim classes, consider the ranger class. Although it lacks the powerful Plasma and Prism families, it is the only tri-elemental caster series with three offensive psynergy abilities in three different elements.
