A Steel Helm (スチールヘルム, Steel Helm^?) is a Helm-class headwear available throughout the Golden Sun series.

In Golden Sun and The Lost Age

In Golden Sun, equipment purchases in Tolbi, where the Steel Helm is exclusively available, should be postponed until the player has visited Tolbi Spring. Here, the player has the chance to gain stronger Artifact headwear like the Ninja Hood and the Adept's Helm. Both pieces of equipment are stronger and have useful side-effects. if the player somehow does not get either Artifact, then Steel Helms can be considered for purchase.

In Golden Sun: The Lost Age, Steel Helms can be bought exclusively in Apojii Islands, meaning they are available to buy as soon as you get the Lemurian Ship to sail the Great Eastern Sea with. While it wouldn't replace the superior Thorn Crown an Adept might be wearing, it would technically be a very good replacement for the Bronze Helm Piers starts out with, and still good even if he is equipped with a stronger Iron Helm.

However, in Champa, another accessible city, an even better Silver Helm can be bought in its place. Even the Silver Helm requires consideration before buying, because the Artifact Viking Helm, can easily be found for free in a hidden chest in Champa. In this situation, you would only buy a Silver Helm afterwards if you're giving the Thorn Crown to one of your two mage-style Adepts, so that your two warrior-style Adepts can be equipped with the Viking Helm and Silver Helm respectively. In light of all this, a Steel Helm is clearly not the best thing you can spend your money on.

In Golden Sun: Dark Dawn

In Dark Dawn, the Steel Helm bought exclusively in Belinsk will be outclassed by the Viking Helm and the Warrior's Helm available the Harapa Ruins and Teppe Ruins. Even if the player has missed one of these Artifacts, a stronger Silver Helm is available as a placeholder in nearby Saha Town. Thus, Steel Helms are not needed.
