General Talk

Ok, We need to get working on these guidelines that are "coming soon." If anyone has suggestions, let me know. Otherwise I'l probably just adapt from another wiki.~ dkpat 10:24, 26 January 2011 (CST)Reply[reply]

I'd have to wonder if it's really a good idea for the "Featured Article guidelines are coming soon!" line to remain displaying on the main page the way it is. And since I figure that FAs should be once a month, I'd make Alex February's FA next, and by the end of tonight. Erik the Appreciator 17:29, 31 January 2011 (CST)Reply[reply]

March Article

Ok, so as I'm sure people have noticed, I haven't really got guidelines set for this yet, So... since we have done so up til now anyways, I think It should just be chosen by Admins, with suggestions by Users. So, here is the section for it! Make any article suggestions for March's Featured Article!~ dkpat 10:10, 26 February 2011 (CST)Reply[reply]

I'll just suggest Felix this time. Erik the Appreciator 12:05, 26 February 2011 (CST)Reply[reply]
Personally, I would prefer it not be a character. We are setting a pattern. Maybe we can do a place or an item?76.177.95.231 23:27, 26 February 2011 (CST)Reply[reply]
Bah, um... Taopo Swamp? Erik the Appreciator 03:36, 27 February 2011 (CST)Reply[reply]

How about click "random page" and select whatever page you get :P Chinkycandie 05:17, 27 February 2011 (CST)Reply[reply]

That's kind of missing the point. Generally speaking, a featured article should be "high quality" (whatever that's going to mean...), so just picking random articles isn't a good idea. If something like, say, Zol or Gunpowder Bomb became our featured article, people would get the impression that our wiki is lackluster at best.
Anyways, how about Air's Rock? The World's Hungriest Paperweight 10:19, 27 February 2011 (CST)Reply[reply]

Keep clicking it until you get a page that isn't a stub. Chinkycandie 22:55, 27 February 2011 (CST)Reply[reply]

Well ok, Air's Rock probably makes the best sense. Erik the Appreciator 01:01, 28 February 2011 (CST)Reply[reply]

April 2011 Article

Let's get this started early enough so we have plenty of time to get an article in our minds. Suggestions for The April article? ~ dkpat 22:03, 20 March 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]

The best Djinni article or the best weapon article. Chinkycandie 23:48, 20 March 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]

Both sound like good starting places, but I'd recommend we choose a weapon/Djinni that doesn't appear in Dark Dawn. The DD info is often just tacked onto the end rather than incorporated into the article, and even when it isn't it tends to be choppy and incomplete, or at least lacks the fine-tuning to qualify as a featured article. P.S. Why limit ourselves to weapons? Armor could work too. But probably not any consumable items; they're still under construction. The World's Hungriest Paperweight 10:14, 21 March 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
I was going to suggest Flint for the Djinni, Sol Blade for the weapon, or we could have Vale! Where everything started and ended :P Chinkycandie 04:18, 23 March 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
I wouldn't recommend Flint or the Sol Blade, for the reasons I mentioned above. I'm okay with Vale, though ;) The World's Hungriest Paperweight 10:13, 23 March 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]

Any Further input? ~ dkpat 05:37, 31 March 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]

I vote Vale, because its the very first town and where Isaac, Garet, Felix, and Jenna came from :P We could rotate the feature article. Character -> Dungeon -> Town -> Equipment -> Djinni or something like that. Chinkycandie 18:42, 31 March 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]

Not a bad cycle idea, but maybe we should generalize it a bit, such as: Characters (possibly including monsters) -> Locations -> Items (Sure, most are equipment, but that doesn't mean we should exclude non-equipment articles) -> Alchemy (Which encompasses Psynergy, Djinn, Summons, and other stuff, like the Golden Sun event and Alchemy Machines) -> Other stuff. And, of course, it shouldn't be set in stone, otherwise we might post a poor quality article just because "It's a 'character month'". The World's Hungriest Paperweight 14:11, 1 April 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
I know but use the more high quality articles first then use DD articles when they reach the quality standards :) Sometimes there isn't much you can do about a particular article (such as insignificant places).

We can have a monster article for May! XD Chinkycandie 18:41, 1 April 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]

May 2011 Article

How about a boss? (No specific ideas off the top of my head...) The World's Hungriest Paperweight 19:24, 1 April 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]

Deadbeard (if its up to the standard quality). I hated him though XD Chinkycandie 20:44, 1 April 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
So... is Deadbeard the way to go? ~ dkpat 20:19, 26 April 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
Yeah why not? Chinkycandie 23:57, 26 April 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
I only took a brief glance, but he looks good. The World's Hungriest Paperweight 10:48, 28 April 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
Ok Then, I'll update it to Deadbeard later today!~ dkpat 09:26, 30 April 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]

June 2011 Articles

I was thinking we could use Psynergy or a weapon since the weapons are much more detailed, especially long swords. If we were going to psynergy, perhaps something like an offensive but also can be used as a utlity like Whirlwind. Or maybe we're not ready to use Psynergy yet? Chinkycandie 19:45, 3 May 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]

Ok, we need to get moving on this now. I deinfitely suggest either an Item or a Psynergy, though both are somewhat in the process of being re written... Lachesis' Rule or maybe Trident of Ankohl? ~ dkpat 17:35, 21 May 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
I vote Lachesis Rule. It is more detailed than the Trident of Ankohl. Chinkycandie 20:23, 21 May 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
No complaints here, but let me just take care of something first... The World's Hungriest Paperweight 11:31, 22 May 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
Ahh, thanks, I can't believe I never noticed that. ~ dkpat 11:55, 22 May 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
I'm thinking we could use Ragnarok and Odyssey for July. Since we have yet to do a Psynergy article and because that one seems to be the most detailed. Chinkycandie 21:48, 24 May 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
Only reason I'm not thinking Psynergy for this month, is they are likely to get a revamp soon. (and I couldn't find one that was all that great, didn't look at that one though) So Psynergy for next month sounds good to me! ~ dkpat 22:05, 24 May 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
I'm actually working on a revision for that article, so, while I have no complaints on using it, let's wait and see what I come up with first ;P The World's Hungriest Paperweight 15:16, 25 May 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]

So, just to clarify: Lachesis Rule for June, and possibly a Psynergy article for July? The World's Hungriest Paperweight 12:49, 26 May 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]

Yes, that is correct. ~ dkpat 15:47, 26 May 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
We'll wait until late June to decide which Psynergy would make it to the July featured article :p Chinkycandie 19:46, 26 May 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]

July

I'm still thinking Psynergy (Ragnarok & Odyssey) mainly. I'm now thinking about a Djinn since some of them have been rewritten (I haven't done any editting. There's no walkthrough to contribute XD). I'm not fussed as to what you guys choose :) Chinkycandie 05:11, 16 June 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]

If we do a Djinn, I'd honestly rather not do Flint. I'm trying not to stick to the major players in the series. Trying to show that everyday things can be worthy of being featured. ~ dkpat 17:07, 16 June 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
I guess you make a good point. What about Whorl? Most RNG methods require that one. Chinkycandie 19:44, 16 June 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
Whorl hasn't been given a revision yet, so I wouldn't recommend that one. How about Sap or Ground? As for Psynergy, I believe there's only three articles that have been revised: Ragnarok, Wish, and Quick Strike. I'd still recommend Ragnarok and Odyssey, but those probably wouldn't qualify as "everyday" Psynergies (they are among the most iconic offensive Psynergies in the series, after all). The World's Hungriest Paperweight 20:24, 16 June 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
I'm thinking of Lemuria. An independent civilization filled with surprises. Vortex World 22:12, 16 June 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
We did location articles in both March and April, so let's postpone that thought for a while. The World's Hungriest Paperweight 14:49, 17 June 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
I don't mind using Ragnarok It is pretty much the iconic Psynergy (besides Move) but, I just want all of us to keep in mind that the key places and items don't have to be featured. We have plenty of time so I'm sure they will eventually get their time in the spotlight. I kinda want to go ahead and do a Psynergy too because it seems every month so far at least 1 person has said something about one. ~ dkpat 22:22, 16 June 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
Alright. If you guys are satisfied with Ragnarok & Odyssey, I'm good with it too :) Chinkycandie 22:50, 16 June 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
Sounds like a plan to me. And I don't think we've done a Djinni yet, so we can do that next month ;) The World's Hungriest Paperweight 14:49, 17 June 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]

August

I think we should do a Djinni in this month to appreciate Erik's devotion to rewriting the Djinn pages :) Chinkycandie 21:10, 3 July 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]

Definitely time to start looking at this, I'll agree with a Djinn article. (Not Flint please... lol) ~ dkpat 21:20, 21 July 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
Okay no Flint. We should have one that has been in GS/TLA and in DD. Fever, Gust, Sleet look good. Some other ones do too but they're the ones that stand out the most as well as being offensive Djinn. Chinkycandie 21:38, 21 July 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
I like Gust best out of those. But We'll see what everyone else thinks. ~ dkpat 22:07, 21 July 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
All three look good to me, but if I had to choose I'd go with Sleet because none of the other candidates have an "As an opponent" section. The World's Hungriest Paperweight 11:39, 22 July 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
^ Fever and Gust only have that in DD. I don't know they're stats though. Chinkycandie 20:05, 22 July 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
Whether you can fight them or not isn't the point. Sleet's the only one with the section in question. But, as I said, I'm okay with any of them. ;) The World's Hungriest Paperweight 20:41, 22 July 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
I don't like Fever as much as Sleet or Gust, The article for it is just shaped.. worse (as odd as that sounds, also not to say it is a bad article, just the other two are better) My reason for Gust is probably mostly because I'm partial to Jupiter (heh...) but alos because it retains the original appearence, which is just an interesting fact. ~ dkpat 12:36, 23 July 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
Okay it can be between Gust and Sleet. Gust for the original appearance and Sleet for the "As an Opponent" section. HP does have a point though. Chinkycandie 21:33, 23 July 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]

That's fine, as even I said, I just like Jupiter. :P So Sleet it is then? ~ dkpat 12:32, 24 July 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]

Yeah. Lets go with Sleet. Chinkycandie 01:20, 25 July 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
I'll change it tomorrow or Sunday, depending on my plans for Sunday. (I'm also going to chnage how we log them.. My current system is just too long.) ~ dkpat 16:34, 29 July 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]

September

I don't think summons are ready yet. We've pretty much gone through the cycle except for summons. If we were to start again, we should skip character since there's already two featured articles characters and one of each other main categories. Start from dungeon again? Chinkycandie 20:38, 19 August 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]

Oh crap... it is about that time. lol... It's been busy for me. Umm.. suggestions anyone? ~ dkpat 10:47, 20 August 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
Personally I'd like to see a continent, like Angara or Hesperia... but for a dungeon, well... Belinsk Ruins? Comes with a secret entrance and several roadblocks. Vortex World 11:17, 20 August 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
First of all, while we do have two featured characters, it has been a while since the last character, so I don't see any reason not to use one. Second, we don't have to do a dungeon. Any location article will do, such as a town or, as VW suggested, a continent.
Anyways, I don't work with location articles much, so I can't make many suggestions. I wouldn't recommend Angara, though. Someone thought it would be a good idea to create separate articles for the GBA version and the DD version, the latter of which is little more than a bad copy-and-paste job. I've been meaning to try and merge them together, but first I want to finish the projects I'm already working on. Hesperia or Atteka might work, although I don't know if they're quite as high-quality as some of our past entries. As for Belinsk Ruins, it has stub and addpic tabs, and the items/bestiary could do with a bit of expansion, but despite that it's the best option I've seen so far. Of course, we could go with Belinsk itself instead... The World's Hungriest Paperweight 17:46, 20 August 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
I agree on the Belinks Ruins isn't ready yet. Good walkthrough but lack of pictures and bestiary. A continent is a good idea though. Something that isn't the main continent, Angara. Indra or Ocenia seem good. Even though it kind of lacks photos. Chinkycandie 20:28, 20 August 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
We've still got a few days to get one ready, someone can add pictures as needed still. (I can't .. no EMU/ROM... and no time >_> College) But if you feel it's lacking then maybe someone can. ~ dkpat 22:24, 20 August 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
So... Has anyone given this more thought? We are getting closer to the End of the month~ dkpat 18:36, 25 August 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
I don't think we should go with Dark Dawn things yet. Most articles lack photos and a completed bestiary. Maybe Crossbone Isle from the original Golden Sun? Chinkycandie 02:30, 26 August 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
We may have to archive this talk page soon XD Chinkycandie 07:00, 26 August 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
Hmm.... So umm. I did a quick look through of the continents, but... discarding Dark Dawn they aren't all that good. Most of them kinda suck actually. They are just so short... surely There is more than beastiary to be said about the continents. Soo.. I'm not reccomending those. Maybe we could do a Lighthouse? (I haven't checked them yet but...) ~ dkpat 16:42, 27 August 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
Hahahaha You read my mind. I was going to suggest a lighthouse too. I was thinking either Mars or Jupiter since they had the longest trials. Mercury and Venus were a piece of cake. Chinkycandie 20:12, 27 August 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
Lighthouses work for me, too, although I think we should make our decision based on the quality of the article rather than the length of the dungeon. That being said, I would NOT recommend Venus Lighthouse, as its walkthrough is too fragmented (and even if that weren't the case, the bestiary isn't much better...) Any of the other three are fine by me, though. P.S. We have a DD image for Venus Lighthouse, despite the fact that it can't be visited normally, so could we get one for Mercury as well? The World's Hungriest Paperweight 10:37, 28 August 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]

All three have their strong points. Mercury for the Dark Dawn snippet, Mars for End game and structure, Jupiter for the joining of parties and major storyline advancement... If we get a Dark Dawn pic for Mercury I am ok with using it, otherwise no. I really like how much storyline the other two have, but particuarly Jupiter more so. Mars is an endgame lighthouse, thus is full of spoilers that some may not want to know (such as final boss) While Jupiter is more of a mid storyline lighthouse. I guess I'm leaning more towards Jupiter and Mercury than Mars then. ~ dkpat 12:31, 28 August 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]

I'm all for Jupiter Lighthouse. Same reasons as you :) Chinkycandie 00:28, 29 August 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
I personally like Jupiter Lighthouse's article the best based on what kind of work I put into it. Erik the Appreciator 02:04, 29 August 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]

October

Its about the time of the month to start discussing this :P I'm thinking about a boss. Maybe the Flame Dragons since it also has the Fire Dragon on the same page? Chinkycandie 20:39, 22 September 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]

It certainly is time (I meant to start this conversation yesterday but.. got bogged down in homework) umm... a boss sounds like a good idea to me ~ dkpat 20:47, 22 September 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
I think any enemy-related featured article should have the enemy infobox that is demonstrated on the Skeleton monster line. So, I would propose the Hydra monster line for featuring this month, and nothing else. It has the infobox used consistently throughout, covers a line of monsters that appears in both eras of Golden Sun, and has a boss among them. Erik the Appreciator 22:32, 22 September 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
I like the layout of the Hydra monster line. Looks good :) Chinkycandie 23:15, 22 September 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
Hydra looks like a good article to me. Though one of the monsters in Dark Dawn doesn't have any categories applied to it. Surely it can fall under something.~ dkpat 09:25, 23 September 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]

Is there no further discussion on this? Does anybody have another suggestion they would like to make? ~ dkpat 15:48, 28 September 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]

Nope. I'm fine with the Hydras too. Partly because I just made some revisions to the page, so I should have caught any mistakes.
If you're wondering why I bothered to give the page a thorough inspection: I forget who, but someone pointed out a rather obvious (if minor) error in the Jupiter Lighthouse article, and was disappointed that we would allow such a goof-up in a featured article. It seems to me that nobody (myself included) really takes this whole Featured Article thing very seriously, instead just settling for an article that "looks good". So, I took it upon myself to make sure that the prime candidate for our next FA was good enough for the title. The World's Hungriest Paperweight 14:53, 30 September 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]

November

I'm thinking about Psynergy since Eric has been busy with that. He's uploaded a lot of the DD psynergy photos (I can't do it since I play on the actual DS). Some pages have been re-written as well with better layouts. I liked the Fume page (and others with the same layout). Chinkycandie 01:31, 20 October 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]

That would be not a bad page. Either fume or Wish, as they both have the new style of pages. ~ dkpat 21:42, 20 October 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
No Further input? (our discussions seem to be getting shorter and shorter) ~ dkpat 13:06, 25 October 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]
Well, when Fume was suggested, I went and cleaned it up a bit. I figured that would be interpreted as an "okay" from me, but apparently I wasn't clear, so: Yeah, sounds good to me! ;) The World's Hungriest Paperweight 14:01, 25 October 2011 (CDT)Reply[reply]

December

7 days to decide the next featured article. By the end of this month we'd archive the 2011 discussions :P I'm thinking Djinn. I have Waft in mind. It has the "As the opponent" section as well as the "Damage Calculation" section. However the "As an Opponent" doesn't have the stats template. I'm terrible with html XD Chinkycandie 23:49, 22 November 2011 (CST)Reply[reply]

humm... I don't have any other suggestions off the top of my head, (and I could just be brain-dead) So, for now at least, that sounds ok!~ dkpat 01:45, 24 November 2011 (CST)Reply[reply]
