Karst is a primary antagonist in Golden Sun: The Lost Age. Like her partner Agatio, she is a driven warrior from the secluded village of Prox, which lies far in the Northern Reaches at the edge of the world of Weyard. The duo are second only to Saturos and Menardi, the primary antagonists of the first Golden Sun, which Prox dispatches to break the seal placed on Alchemy by lighting the Elemental Lighthouses strewn across the world. Out of concern for the well-being of Menardi in particular — her elder sister — Karst and Agatio depart Prox shortly before the end of the first game to back them up, only to find that Saturos and Menardi died in battle against Isaac and his company. Karst swears revenge against Isaac and forces Felix, Saturos' surviving traveling companion, to agree to focus on finishing Saturos' quest while she searches the world for Isaac, seeking to satisfy her murderous obsession. Despite said agreement, Karst and Agatio eventually come to blows with Felix's party and end up engaging them in a boss battle — one of the only boss battles in the Golden Sun series that can either be won or lost without affecting the course of the game.
