SummonIconJudgment.gif Judgment (アポカリプス, Apocalypse) is a Summon of the Venus element. The Judgment summon is one of sixteen summons that is automatically granted to the player as soon as the required Djinn are assembled.

Basic Characteristics[edit]

For a successful summoning of Judgment, the player must have four Djinn of the Venus Element on standby. Judgment has a base Venus power of 240 and also does additional damage equivalent to 12% of the enemy’s maximum HP. In addition, it will raise the Venus Power of the summoner by 100.

Judgment's appearance in Dark Dawn

In all its appearances, Judgment resembles an angelic knight in the sky that gathers power in its lion shield, before firing a blast at the overworld land below. A shockwave from the blast consumes everything including the enemies in an expanding white explosion. A figure resembling Judgment also makes a minor appearance in Dark Dawn's version of the Catastrophe summon. This figure is shown in the beginning of the sequence, and is shown transforming into Catastrophe.

Analysis[edit]

Judgment is the strongest Venus-based summon that the player automatically acquires. It is twice as powerful as Cybele and four times as powerful as Ramses and uses only 2 times the amount of Djinn on standby as Ramses does. Thus, it receives a great deal of use in boss battles when the required Djinn are assembled. In Golden Sun, Judgment is one of the strongest summons in the game. In Golden Sun: The Lost Age and Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, Judgment's usage can drop slightly as the later Venus-based tablet summons are acquired, thanks to their stronger power and useful side-effects. However, since Judgment is a fairly straightforward way of dealing damage, it will still see use.

Cultural Allusions[edit]

Origin: Christianity

Judgment represents the final days of the earth, representing when God would judge men and ultimately determine if they are to have salvation or eternal damnation. He also bears the symbols of the four evangelists: the bull, the lion, the eagle, and the man. The Japanese name also refers to the Apocalypse, which includes Judgement Day, in a more general sense.
