Template talk:TownInfobox

From Golden Sun Universe

Hey everyone. I'm kinda wondering About the effectiveness of this template. It's only in use on like 2 towns, and it doesn't really provide much information. Is it worth putting on the rest of the towns? Should it be revamped to have some other information on it? Or should we just scrap it entirely? ~ dkpat (talk) 10:00, 18 April 2013 (CDT)Reply[reply]

In its current state it doesn't provide much, so we could probably let it go. However, I don't see why we can't add some more practical information. Maybe we could have yes-or-no "shop fields" or something, so readers can quickly tell if a town has a weapon shop, inn, sanctum, and so on. Just an idea. I would like to keep it, but it's currently functionality makes it kinda pointless to keep. lol, It's basically just a place for a screenshot of the town to be placed. So, Let's try to think of fields we could add to it. We've got... Shop: Yes/No, Inn: Yes/No (or price perhaps?). I'm uncertain about these fields just because the new vendor system will place that info in the ToC for the page, so it'll be fairly visible. How about Landmass It's located on and Games it appears in. I think I like both of those ideas. ~ dkpat (talk) 12:37, 18 April 2013 (CDT)Reply[reply]
No objections to the landmass and game fields or inn prices, although I'd suggest we list the per-character prices. And I'll admit that my suggestions weren't the best, but I don't think we should rule them out just because of the ToC. Plus, that only applies to the vendors; The inns and sanctums can still work. Also, just as an aside, we could have separate fields for item, weapon, and armor vendors. I'm only mentioning this now because I forgot to make that explicit before, but I'm sure it was clear enough. And in case anyone forgot about Suhalla, there are towns that only have items but not weapons and armor (although I'll admit I can't think of any others at the moment). Anyways, I can't think of much more. Anyone else have any suggestions? The World's Hungriest Paperweight (talk) 22:52, 18 April 2013 (CDT)Reply[reply]
I agree about Per-character pricing on the Inn. I'm just not sure if I like the idea of having a simple Yes/No field though. It just seems a little goofy to me. ... hmm... What do you think of a field called "Services" and list in that field the various services available in the town? ~ dkpat (talk) 11:47, 19 April 2013 (CDT)Reply[reply]
I suppose that could work. In fact, it would allow us to include some of the rarer services, such as Fortune Tellers and Blacksmiths. The World's Hungriest Paperweight (talk) 19:52, 19 April 2013 (CDT)Reply[reply]
I removed all the nearest point fields. They are just annoyingly long to me, and aren't really used effectively. I could maybe merge them all into a single field or something, but for right now they just bug me. I also implemented other fields we talked about. ~ dkpat (talk) 12:43, 21 April 2013 (CDT)Reply[reply]
