The Mythril Circlet (ミスリルサークル, Mythril Circle?) is a Circlet-class head armor found in Golden Sun and Golden Sun: Dark Dawn. Contrary to its name, it is not forged from Mythril Silver, but is instead a unique Artifact.

Basic Description by Game[edit | edit source]

The Mythril Circlet increases the wearer's base defense by 34, and allows the wearer to recover 3 PP per turn. It can be sold for 5250 coins, and subsequently rebought for 7000 coins.

In Golden Sun, it is found in a chest in a locked room in Lunpa Fortress, behind a locked door that can be opened with the Cell Key; the first time the player passes by this door they will not have found the Cell Key required to unlock the door, so the player must backtrack later on. In Dark Dawn, it is found in a treasure chest in Teppe Ruins. As a Circlet, it can be equipped by Ivan, Mia, Jenna, and Sheba in the first two games, and by Karis, Rief, Amiti, and Himi in the third.

Analysis[edit | edit source]

The PP recovery rate puts the Mythril Circlet at least on par with the Jeweled Crown and Lucky Cap as the best head items for Ivan and Mia to wear at the end of Golden Sun, so which ones to choose may be a matter of personal taste. The Mythril Circlet has about the same Defense rating as the Jeweled Crown, and has the more direct benefit of PP regeneration as opposed to an increased Luck stat that lowers the chances the equipped Adept will be afflicted by Status conditions, which are points to consider in your decision.

In terms of PP recovery rate and Defense in Golden Sun however the Mythril Circlet is inferior to the Thunder Crown, which provides 4 PP per turn and has a Defense value of 40. The Thunder Crown can also be equipped by all Adepts. The downside however is the equipment curse which facilitates the use of the Cleric's Ring to nullify. There is also potential demand on the Cleric's Ring, typically by Garet, should he be equipped with one of the three powerful cursed weapons. Ultimately the decision on which to use comes down to player preference.

Should your party from Golden Sun be transferred into The Lost Age with this equipped, however, it will instantly count as an inferior item, due to the existence of the Crown of Glory, which can be earned in multiples with Lucky Medals earlier in Lemuria, has 6 more Defense, 5 more PP regeneration per turn, and can be equipped by any Adept. Thus, the Mythril Circlet should be replaced with a Crown of Glory posthaste.

The ultimate upgrade to the Mythril Circlet is arguably the Psychic Circlet, which is made from Mythril Silver and adds 5 Defense and 9 more PP regeneration. Perhaps the Psychic Circlet is meant to be a purer form of the Mythril Circlet, as it is much more potent in its powers.

In Dark Dawn, the Mythril Circlet gives the highest PP regeneration of any non-cursed headwear, and is the first such headwear available. It is an excellent upgrade from any headwear your mage-style Adepts may have. Later on, the player will be able to acquire various Robes that also restore PP, which can stack with the Mythril Circlet to provide greater PP restoration.
