The welcome, directory, news, trivia, NIWA, what you can do, About Us, and perhaps Poll should be enough. I don't know about things like Featured Article/Image, because that feels like it would require too much work and attention to maintain to be worth it. Surely Featured Article isn't that big of a hassle. We don't have to do it the way other wikis do. Personally, I think we could have directory, about us, polls, trivia, welcome, news, featured article, and affiliates/niwa (do we have any other affiliates?) ~ dkpat 12:51, 28 December 2010 (CST)

Soo.. Welcome, News, About Us, Featured Article, NIWA/Affliates (in case of future affiliations), Trivia, Directory. (not positive if polls would work well, I'll check with greg and the forums thing) That makes... 7 Sections. (possibly 8). For those sections.. I say we make them templates. That will save on organization on the main page, and make them less likely to be changed/easier to update without messing up the rest of the page. ~ dkpat 13:25, 28 December 2010 (CST)

Layouts

Confuzzled as to why you would consider placing news anywhere other than at the top. News is new, and while it may not be pertinent to what a user may be looking for, it is essential to place new information in an easily accessible location. Hey Hey, What Links could we put in the Directory? any new suggestions and or edits would be wonderful ( 9 isn't the most flexible number layout wise..)Current Links:

I actually think I have a new one. Lore, for things like Alchemy, Elements, Grave Eclipse, etc. Also, rename The World to Geography ~ dkpat 22:30, 28 December 2010 (CST)

mmk so there are our 10 items. Now... How do we want them represented on the page? for images we have a max of 130px wide (to ensure 1024x768 support) They are in two rows of 5. Do we want them to be just text? ~ dkpat 19:06, 29 December 2010 (CST)

It can either be just text or images that look like stylized text. Either way is preferable over big picture-filled imagemap buttons at this point, I think. Erik the Appreciator 20:49, 29 December 2010 (CST)

I really can't think of anything else to do with the design of the main page, so yeah, that's a finished main page design. Isaac should probably be the first featured article when that system is set up. Erik the Appreciator 14:28, 30 December 2010 (CST)
