Steam and Mellow: The same Djinni?

As Wangxuan just pointed out, Steam's original name is shared by a Djinni from a different game, Mellow. I took a look and the similarities go a bit further: Both Steam and Mellow increase the party's Resistance. The only real difference is how they affect an Adept's stats when Set. Is it just me, or could these two Djinn actually be the same Djinni? I'm gonna have to do a bit more research and see if any returning Djinn in Dark Dawn have their Set stats changed too... Well, unless I missed something, no other Djinni has its Set stats changed between games. Still, I'm not too sure that's enough to keep Steam and Mellow on two separate pages. The World's Hungriest Paperweight 10:00, 18 July 2012 (CDT)Reply[reply]

I'd personally keep them on separate pages nonetheless, because there's no way to tell for certain what exactly went on behind the scenes and how, if this somehow is supposed to be the same Djinni because of having the same kanji, Camelot managed to make exactly one Djinni break an otherwise absolute consistency shared between all the other Djinn, where all returning Djinn have the exact same set stat bonuses as in the GBA games. Whether the translators gave it a different name because they saw it had different stats, or that they had some other reason indicating to them it's a different Djinni, we really don't know. (BTW, where did Wangxuan find the kanji for the Dark Dawn Djinni Mellow? I haven't found it to compare with the kanji for Steam.) I'd maybe have been more open to the idea of merging them if the stat bonuses were shared... Besides, we'd probably end up having to make modifications to the Djinn infobox just to try to accommodate two different sets of stat bonuses in the Set Bonuses section, all on account of one Djinni. It seems to me that, in place of the somewhat heavy-handed and risky option to merge Djinn with different English names and set bonus stats on account of their shared Japanese name and unleash effect (risky because, well, what if GS4 brings back all the other missing GBA Djinn, and Steam, with the exact stats we know from GBA, is one of them?), it's a more reasonable option that we just make trivia notes on each Djinni's separate page describing the situation in detail.
