I think that, when talking to the mayor, you have to say no to the question about whether you've encountered the theives. I once said yes and tranfered and the boots didn't appear. I could be mistaken however. Tzion 21:49, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

Sounds most likely that you could be mistaken. In the many times I played through both games, I'm pretty sure that whenever I transferred data the event happened simply because I gave some sort of answer to the mayor in GS1. Erik Jensen ^{(Appreciate me here!)} 22:53, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
