Colosso Gladiator enemy line

From Golden Sun Universe

Of the Colosso Gladiators that compete in Colosso in Tolbi, three are enemies that are battled in scripted encounters both in Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age: Azart, Satrage, and Navampa.

In Golden Sun

In the first game, Isaac engages these warriors one-on-one in three separate battles in order, making these the only encounters in the Golden Sun series as of the present in which your battling party is comprised only of one member. Each of these battles occur at the end of one of the legs of the Colosso Finals, which the player is forced to undertake.

Azart

Azart.png

Azart is a level 25 gladiator in gold armor. He is fought at the end of Colosseum Final 1. He has two separate Defense statistics listed; the version with 2 Defense will be fought if you arrive at the battle area first and claim the Iron Shield for yourself, leaving him with the Padded Gloves, whereas the version with 20 Defense is fought when Azart claims the Iron Shield before you do, leaving you with the Padded Gloves.

Solid strategy to battling Azart is to either cast Ragnarok when Isaac is a Gallant or Lord, Planet Diver if Isaac is a Savage, or, most useful and effective of all, Death Plunge if he has the Djinn available to be a Ninja. Death Plunge's effect of possibly inflicting Stun on Azart is an extremely useful effect for this battle that will practically ensure Isaac's victory in the match.

Azart is especially likely to be affected by Delusion-inflicting and Sleep-inducing effects. Its statistics are as follows:

Name HP PP Attack Defense Agility Luck
Azart 450 0 206 2/20 62 9
Elemental Resistances and Levels Exp Coins Item Dropped Drop Rate
Star venus.gif 90 (Lv 1)   Star mercury.gif 90 (Lv 1)   Star mars.gif 90 (Lv 1)   Star jupiter.gif 90 (Lv 1) 0 0 None N/A

Azart uses the following battle commands with moderate intelligence:

Command Chance
to use
Elem. Stats
used with *
Description
Attack 7/8
(87.5%)
-- Standard physical attack.
Defend 1/8
(12.5%)
-- Standard Defend command which halves all damage the user takes during this turn.

As a not-unintelligent enemy who carries stocked items, two 12.5% "ability slots" of Azart's 87.5% chance to Attack, as well as his 12.5% chance to Defend with a given action, will instead cause Azart to use one of his stocked items if he has any items remaining in stock and is able to use them applicably; if either he no longer has items in stock or the battlefield conditions do not allow his currently "individually available" item type to be used to a difference-making effect, he will use the called ability as normal. His full inventory of items is structured in the following order, with each item's entire stock having to be used up before the next type of item can be available for use:

Oil Drop.gif 1 Oil Drop: Isaac is hit by a Mars-aligned attack with 80 base damage. As a consumable item, this assumes Azart uses this with a Mars Elemental Power rating of 100 instead of his normal rating, 80.
Nut.gif 2 Nuts: Used only while a combatant on the user's side is not at maximum HP. An item that restores roughly 200 HP to the user.

Satrage

Satrage.png

Satrage is a level 25 gladiator in green armor. He is fought at the end of Colosseum Final 2. He has two separate Defense statistics listed; the version with 6 Defense will be fought if you arrive at the battle area first and claim the Chain Mail for yourself, leaving him with the Cotton Shirt, whereas the version with 26 Defense is fought when Satrage claims the Chain Mail before you do, leaving you with the Cotton Shirt.

An effective strategy for battling Satrage is to approach the fight the same way as the battle with Azart: cast Ragnarok when Isaac is in the Gallant or Lord class, Planet Diver if Isaac is a Savage, or Death Plunge if he can be a Ninja. Death Plunge's effect of possibly inflicting Stun on Satrage is an extremely beneficial effect in this battle that will practically ensure Isaac's victory in the match if it works.

Satrage is especially likely to be affected by Delusion-inflicting and Sleep-inducing effects. Its statistics are as follows:

Name HP PP Attack Defense Agility Luck
Satrage 570 0 228 6/28 73 12
Elemental Resistances and Levels Exp Coins Item Dropped Drop Rate
Star venus.gif 90 (Lv 1)   Star mercury.gif 90 (Lv 1)   Star mars.gif 90 (Lv 1)   Star jupiter.gif 90 (Lv 1) 0 0 None N/A

Satrage uses the following battle commands with moderate intelligence:

Command Chance
to use
Elem. Stats
used with *
Description
Attack 7/8
(87.5%)
-- Standard physical attack.
Defend 1/8
(12.5%)
-- Standard Defend command which halves all damage the user takes during this turn.

As a not-unintelligent enemy who carries stocked items, two 12.5% "ability slots" of Satrage's 87.5% chance to Attack, as well as his 12.5% chance to Defend with a given action, will instead cause Satrage to use one of his stocked items if he has any items remaining in stock and is able to use them applicably; if either he no longer has items in stock or the battlefield conditions do not allow his currently "individually available" item type to be used to a difference-making effect, he will use the called ability as normal. His full inventory of items is structured in the following order, with each item's entire stock having to be used up before the next type of item can be available for use:

Smoke Bomb.gif 1 Smoke Bomb: Isaac has a chance to be afflicted with the Delusion status condition.
Nut.gif 2 Nuts: Used only while a combatant on the user's side is not at maximum HP. An item that restores roughly 200 HP to the user.

Navampa

Navampa.png

Navampa is a level 25 gladiator in violet armor. He is fought at the end of Colosseum Final 3. He has two separate Attack statistics listed; the version with 234 Attack will be fought if you arrive at the battle area first and claim the Claymore for yourself, leaving him with the Hunter's Sword, whereas the version with 274 Attack is fought when Navampa claims the Claymore before you do, leaving you with the Hunter's Sword. Unlike Azart and Satrage, you are allowed to lose this battle and progress with the rest of the game, but if you win this battle as well, you will receive the unique Lure Cap in a follow-up cutscene.

Solid strategy to battling Navampa is the same as when battling Azart and Satrage: cast Ragnarok when Isaac is in the Gallant or Lord class, Planet Diver if Isaac is a Savage, or Death Plunge if he can be a Ninja. Death Plunge's effect of possibly inflicting Stun on Navampa is an extremely and especially beneficial effect for this battle that will go a long way in ensuring Isaac's victory in the match if it works.

Navampa is especially likely to be affected by Delusion-inflicting and Sleep-inducing effects. Its statistics are as follows:

Name HP PP Attack Defense Agility Luck
Navampa 820 0 232/274 54 84 16

Star venus.gif 90 (Lv 1)   Star mercury.gif 90 (Lv 1)   Star mars.gif 90 (Lv 1)   Star jupiter.gif 90 (Lv 1) 0 0 None N/A

Navampa uses the following battle commands with moderate intelligence:

Command Chance
to use
Elem. Stats
used with *
Description
Attack 7/8
(87.5%)
-- Standard physical attack.
Defend 1/8
(12.5%)
-- Standard Defend command which halves all damage the user takes during this turn.

As a not-unintelligent enemy who carries stocked items, two 12.5% "ability slots" of Navampa's 87.5% chance to Attack, as well as his 12.5% chance to Defend with a given action, will instead cause Navampa to use one of his stocked items if he has any items remaining in stock and is able to use them applicably; if either he no longer has items in stock or the battlefield conditions do not allow his currently "individually available" item type to be used to a difference-making effect, he will use the called ability as normal. His full inventory of items is structured in the following order, with each item's entire stock having to be used up before the next type of item can be available for use:

In Golden Sun: The Lost Age

If you successfully defeat Navampa in the first game and use that game's Clear Data file for Password data transfer into this game, then a special event may be unlocked. After Isaac's party joins that of Felix late in the game, the next time you reenter the south entrance to Shaman Village Cave, a cutscene happens where all three gladiators appear and challenge your party to a rematch. Once you win this fight, the Colosso Gladiators will give you the Golden Shirt, a more powerful version of the Mythril Shirt.

Azart

Azart.png

Azart is a level 38 gladiator in gold armor. Like before, he is the weakest of the three.

Azart is especially likely to be affected by Delusion-inflicting and Sleep-inducing effects. Its statistics are as follows:

His full inventory of items is structured in the following order, with each item's entire stock having to be used up before the next type of item can be available for use:

Weasels Claw.gif 1 Weasel's Claw: The party is hit by a Jupiter-aligned attack with 120 base damage that is spread out over 5 enemies with high damage distribution. As a consumable item, this assumes Azart uses this with a Jupiter Elemental Power rating of 100 instead of his normal rating, 80.
Nut.gif 2 Nuts: Used only while a combatant on the user's side is not at maximum HP. An item that restores roughly 200 HP to either the user or his ally.

Satrage

Satrage.png

Satrage is a level 38 gladiator in green armor. Like before, he is in between the others in overall statistics.

Satrage is especially likely to be affected by Delusion-inflicting and Sleep-inducing effects. Its statistics are as follows:

Name HP PP Attack Defense Agility Luck
Satrage 485 0 342 74 145 13

Navampa

Navampa.png

Navampa is a level 38 gladiator in violet armor. Like before, he is the strongest and most durable of the three.

Navampa is especially likely to be affected by Delusion-inflicting and Sleep-inducing effects. Its statistics are as follows:
