I had noticed when Camelot updated their website with an image announcing that they had just released Mario Tennis Open for the 3DS. Conceptually, it isn't a surprise that they would do another Mario sports game following Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, but it got me thinking on what is more likely and what is less likely to happen in the future.
I'd like to think that Mario Tennis Open on the 3DS was a calculated maneuver on the company's part made for the sake of having 3DS-developing experience, useful for when it's time to make Golden Sun 4 on the 3DS, for example. But with that out of the way, do you think their next game would be GS4, or more of other stuff? Keep in mind that each release takes a fairly long while to come out. When I look at Wikipedia's page on them, after they did We Love Golf! on the Wii in 2007, they updated their 2004 GameCube Mario tennis game for the New Play Control series on the Wii in 2008, and then their next title was Dark Dawn all the way late in 2010. And it's only now a year-and-a-half later that their follow-up release just came out.
Based on this pattern, whatever Camelot's next game is going to be, I think it shouldn't be expected until the end of 2013 at the earliest. And therefore, I don't expect them to have anything to show at E3 2012.
