Bat enemy line
The Bat (バット), Rabid Bat (シーバット Sea Bat), Giant Bat (バンパイアバット), and Vampire Bat (バンパイアバット) are enemies that are randomly battled in each game in the Golden Sun series. These monsters, resembling small bats with long tails, are palette swaps of each other that have differing levels of power and defense and are fought in different locations in the games.

[edit] Bat (Prologue)
This early version of the Bat is a violet level 1 variant with a turquoise underbelly. In Golden Sun, it appears during the prologue sequence in Vale, then throughout the introductory dungeon, Sol Sanctum.
This is the single most basic and easy enemy to fight in the game.

[edit] Bat (Overworld)
This "main version" of the Bat is a violet level 3 variant with a turquoise underbelly. In Golden Sun, it is battled in the overworld region of Angara encompassing Vale and the entrance to Goma Cave, inside Goma Cave itself, and in the overworld region of Angara encompassing the exit to Goma Cave and Kolima Bridge far to the east.
In where it is first fightable, the Bat is still the easiest of the monsters fightable in those regions, though earlier on it has the highest Agility rating.

[edit] Rabid Bat
A Rabid Bat is a blue level 17 variant with a yellow underbelly. In Golden Sun, it is first battled as parts of scripted battles in the Tolbi-bound Ship, then subsequently battled in the overworld region around Tolbi.
The Rabid Bat is about what you'd expect when you first come across it; not difficult to deal with, and weaker than other enemies you would encounter alongside it.
A Rabid Bat has the following statistics:
| Name | HP | PP | Attack | Defense | Agility | Luck |
| Rabid Bat | 125 | 0 | 190 | 34 | 84 | 2 |

| Vampiric Fang | 2/8 (25%) |
|
Enemy ability where a glowing red image of a pair of jaws chomps at the position of a targeted Adept while energy is siphoned into the monster. Deals a Venus-aligned attack with 35 base damage, and may restore the user's health by an amount equal to the damage dealt. |
[edit] Giant Bat
A Giant Bat is a blue level 5 variant with a yellow underbelly. In Golden Sun: The Lost Age it is battled in the upper overworld region of Indra, as well as throughout Kandorean Temple and Shrine of the Sea God.
Essentially, the Giant Bat is a nearly identical variation on the first game's second version of the Bat, apparently adjusted with the level 5 starting party of The Lost Age in mind. Obviously it is a very weak monster, though among the Punch Ants and Wild Wolves it is battled alongside, it has a good amount of higher agility.
A Giant Bat has the following statistics:
| Name | HP | PP | Attack | Defense | Agility | Luck |
| Giant Bat | 32 | 0 | 30 | 6 | 22 | 1 |
